Hello all,

I have found out I am having a baby boy, and would like to hear your opinions on the name I like for him.

First name: Elio
Middle name: Heath

Elio Heath.

What do you all think please? I am looking for uncommon, a bit different but still likeable + not a name where he could get picked on when he starts school.

Thanks.

Nope

AmateurNoun · 22/01/2025 23:48

It's not to my taste. I am not keen on Elio and Heath just makes me think of Heath Ledger.

He would also have to be spelling Elio out when meeting new people because it so unusual.

In my experience, women and girls tend to prefer unique names, but boys and men often prefer popular names.

shoopshoopdedoo · 22/01/2025 23:50

It’s not something I’d choose personally. But it’s your baby!

MirandaBlu · 22/01/2025 23:55

I think it's OK. Elio is an Italian name, so possibly people may assume Italian heritage which your child may or may not have. But it's not a name that has any equivalent in English as far as I know, so I don't think Italians will come after you for using it regardless.

I'd just sound the name out with your surname - mostly Elio Lastname, because that is what he'll deal with every day, but also Elio Heath Lastname - to make sure it still sounds nice.

Yellowcakestand · 22/01/2025 23:57

It sounds like a place

KenIsAnAccessory · 22/01/2025 23:59

Use Eliot?

LeaveALittleNote · 23/01/2025 00:00

Elio Elio Elio Elio Elio Elio

You should understand what I mean by that!

not a name where he could get picked on when he starts school.

The thing is, school age kids will be hearing a lot of names for the first time at school, be it Edward or Eliot or Elio.... so so long as its not completely ridiculous like Fart or something, children shouldn't bully over a name. There's plenty of people on mumsnet for that! 😅 it's not to my personal taste but that's OK, it won't be to everyone's just as my children's names might not be to your taste.

sel2223 · 23/01/2025 06:08

Elio is not my taste, I just hear E-I-E-I-E-I-O

Sorry

And not a fan of Heath as a middle name as it turns anything into a place name

Firsttimebabymummy · 23/01/2025 06:58

Sorry not to my taste

Eli? Elijah?
Prefer Edison.

Edison is kind of cool, and I think most people will know how to spell it which will save your son a lot of hassle!

Thank you, we also like Dalton too. 🩵

Dalton is much better than Elio. Elio would be 'Elliott?,Ellie O?', and there are so many Ellie/Ellas.

Heath is too place name and too Keith.

Edited

Thank you. Edison & Dalton are the top two at the moment, then we just need to choose a middle name that isn’t over used.

Sorry but it’s awful. Is Elio even a name or just a sound you like?

Love love Dalton, and Heath!

I don't mind Elio but Dalton hits my ears better.

Dalton Heath? Sounds great!

VenusClapTrap · 23/01/2025 14:06

Emilio? I like Heath.

Pixilicious1 · 23/01/2025 14:18

elio is a lovely name. I knew a very handsome Elio in my teens so maybe that is influencing me! I also like Edison, Dalton less so. For some reason Dalton makes me think of a criminal but I’m not sure why!

KayEmAy · 23/01/2025 15:42

I ADORE Elio! I think it's such a handsome name :)

I only know of one Dalton, it was on a movie named Incidious the little boy (he was a good person) was called Dalton. I don’t know any others. X

What about Elias? Not too different from Elio.

bridgetreilly · 23/01/2025 22:59

I like Edison or Elias. I get that Elio is a non-English name but to me it feels like a made up brand name, sorry.
