Baby Boy Name Opinion 🩵

Elly1995 · 22/01/2025 23:43

Hello all,

I have found out I am having a baby boy, and would like to hear your opinions on the name I like for him.

First name: Elio
Middle name: Heath

Elio Heath.

What do you all think please? I am looking for uncommon, a bit different but still likeable + not a name where he could get picked on when he starts school.

Thanks.

I know a real life Dalton. In his 30s. Cool name IMO

Emanwenym · 24/01/2025 08:04

Olio! Ilyas is nice.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 25/01/2025 11:31

Heath is nice as a middle name but not sure on Elio, don’t know how to pronounce it.
what about Elliot thought, that’s nice and you could sometimes use elio as a nickname.

I like Edison + Dalton, I have been thinking of Edison Rio. I don’t think Elliot is for me, it’s too common.

I like Edison but not Dalton. Although I do think Dalton James sounds kinda cute

OopsieeDaisy · 26/01/2025 04:13

Edison is much better than Elio - I think a lot of people would be unsure of how to spell/pronounce Elio. How about Ellis?

mathanxiety · 26/01/2025 04:21

Edison Heath or Edison Rio would both be nice.
Dalton Heath would be nice too, but not Dalton Rio imo.

Everydayflowers · 26/01/2025 07:15

I really like Edison Rio. Unusual but easy to spell and pronounce.
I would have pronounced Elio as Ee-lee-oh, although obviously it's easy to pronounce when you know how. It's still my least favourite of the names you've mentioned.

janeavrilavril · 26/01/2025 11:39

Dalton is a well known surname in Ireland. Edison is nicer.

Rosebeds · 26/01/2025 11:49

are you Italian? If so nice. Otherwise they’ll probably have people ask them throughout life “are you Italian?” and they’ll have to say no…
I don’t know, always seems a bit naff to me.

Rosebeds · 26/01/2025 11:50

Edison is nice as PP suggested. Ed/eddie a great nn.

Comedycook · 26/01/2025 11:51

Heath is a cool name imo.

Elio is a bit random and doesn't roll off the tongue.

I think heath as a first name is better

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 never have I asked someone were they a specific nationality because of their name

CatchHimDerry · 26/01/2025 12:29

I like Elio

Not so much Dalton or Edison

I agree with PP that -Heath as a second makes it sound like a place 😂 sorry

Im partial to a quirky name myself. My son’s is one you don’t hear a lot, but not crazy. I’ve come across only one other so far

Emanwenym · 26/01/2025 12:59

@Heidi2018 , why is it so funny? I've asked a few people things like 'Are you italian/portuguese/scottish/ghanaian?'

Slicedpeaches · 26/01/2025 13:11

I really like Elio, its cool and sounds friendly.

I do always read Heath as Health so with a uncommon firstname, to me it reads as a private healthcare company - ElioHealth

No, I am British. I have a French & German first name though, which is Eloise. I don’t think it matter where the name originates from, you don’t have to choose a British name if you like names from other countries. My farthers families surname is Francis, which again is french but none of us are from there. X

I’ve never heard anyone called that. I don’t like Heath. I went to school with one and he wasn’t my favourite person so I’m biased.

villamariavintrapp · 26/01/2025 22:47

Leo is really popular. Elio sounds like you're spelling out L-E-O.

Mae2B · 27/01/2025 06:56

@Emanwenym I don't think all the Francescas in the UK are asked if they are Italian just because it's clearly an Italian and not a British name 😁

Emanwenym · 27/01/2025 09:16

@Mae2B , I wouldn't ask a Francesca, but I would ask a Federico or Enzo.

Elio Elio Elio Elio Elio Elio

You should understand what I mean by that!

Well, I understood! And while I actually like the novel and the film based on it, I’m not so convinced a child in the Anglosphere would particularly appreciate a name popularly associated with a film whose most famous scene is Timothée Chalamet pleasuring himself with a peach and having a fling with Armie Hammer.

Strokethefurrywall · 23/01/2025 11:27

Love love Dalton, and Heath!

I don't mind Elio but Dalton hits my ears better.

Dalton Heath? Sounds great!

Dalton is too similar to Dalston, a borough in east London with a high crime rate so to me Dalton Heath sounds like a rec ground where a stabbing is being reported 😂

Strokethefurrywall · 28/01/2025 23:14

Haha haven't live in uk in 17 years so don't recall Dalston!

I only think of Patrick Swayzes character Dalton from the movie Roadhouse so it's eminently cool in my head!

Ohlawdnotagain · 28/01/2025 23:22

Sorry a bit too try hard.
As is Dalton.
