yes

I would never have picked James but dh suggested for ds2's middle name and it goes really well.

I like it.

Lauriefairycake · 03/05/2008 12:27

It's a lovely name for a boy

I'm reminded of the scene in Friends where Rachel wants it for a girl and Ross vetoes it

MozzybearBaileysIce · 03/05/2008 12:28

I love it. I think if I have another DS it will feature in some way or other.

suedonim · 03/05/2008 12:39

Yes, I like it. I can't actually think that I know of any youngsters with James as a first name, though I do know some adults.

Janni · 03/05/2008 12:41

yes

Tommy · 03/05/2008 12:43

yes - DS2's middle name is James. We comsdiered it for his first names but DH's surname is Brown so we thought better of it

franke · 03/05/2008 12:45

Yes I like it. We couldn't have it, as our surname begins with S - a no no for me

(Don't agree that Jamie is chavvy btw, classic, classy Scottish name)

VictorianSqualor · 03/05/2008 12:48

Yes, love it.
Lends itself to all ages of male too, a little boy, a teenager and an older man, some names don't sound right on kids IMO.

AitchTwoCiao · 03/05/2008 12:50

i'm not fussed for Jamie precisely because it is a classic landowning Jocko name, funnily enough. but i do love Jimmy very much. i have a friend James who i call Jimmy when feeling suitably drunk affectionate and it's lovely.

peanutbear · 03/05/2008 13:13

its my sons name but I would not be amused if the called him jim!!!!!

hatjam · 03/05/2008 22:42

my ds is a james (or sometimes jimmy). but after he was christened another mum (of an older james) said 'wherever you go in the world you'll hear someone shouting "james! stop that at once". she maintains it's a really naughty boy's names (and on hers and my experience, there may be something to it)

james is traditional - easy - in offensive - you cant dislike it imho
