Keira Rose or Ruby Rosalind, Rosalind or Annabel, Annabelle?

suzettenoisette · 07/12/2024 09:48

We have narrowed it down to our final four.

Keira
Ruby
Rosalind
Annabel or Annabelle - which spelling?

Just a few questions:

  1. Which one do you prefer: Keira, Ruby, Rosalind or Annabel, Annabelle?
  2. Which spelling do you prefer, Annabel or Annabelle? Do you pronounce them the same?

These are our combos, but not set in stone yet:

Ruby Rosalind
or
Keira Rose
or
Rosalind (maybe with Annabel or Annabelle as the middle name, Rosalind Annabel, Rosalind Annabelle)
or
Annabelle, Annabel (probably with Rosalind or Ruby. Annabelle Rosalind, Annabel Rosalind, Annabel Ruby or Annabelle Ruby)

Would you use one of your top names as a middle name or should it be saved for future kids? Not quite sure. Thanks again.

I like Annabelle best

My favourite three, inspired from your list..
Keira Annabel or Keira Gabrielle
Anna Rosalind
Rosalind Ruby
Annabel Rose

Two sisters are possible called:
Keira and Rosalind
Anna and Rosalind
Keira and Anna or Annabel

Rosalind. Very versatile and classic. Ros, rosy, rose, Lindy.
Annabel as it’s the classic spelling so why go fussy?
Middle names are completely irrelevant really. Your names are lovely except Keira is very modern feeling.

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/12/2024 10:41

All are nice names 😁

I love Keira and Ruby best - pretty and simple, not shortened as a rule, lovely for all ages (I can imagine them suiting me, my teen girl and my primary age girl equally well).

Annabel (spelt like this) is also lovely, I like Annie for short.

Rosalind - I prefer Rosa / Rosie - not quite as keen on the full name personally, but it’s very versatile to shorten as she prefers as she gets older..

I personally used names inspired by my family / heritage as middle names and saved my favourite first names for siblings, but that was just my personal approach to it! If you decide to pick from your favourites as middle names, I would choose -

Keira Rose
Ruby Annabel, or
Annabel Ruby

Fireworknight · 07/12/2024 10:42

Rosalind - licences as a first name.

Potentiallyplausible · 07/12/2024 10:43

Rosalind is my favourite, though I do like Ruby.
Always Annabel for the spelling unless you are French. They are pronounced differently.

shoopshoopdedoo · 07/12/2024 10:46

I like Ruby and Annabel best. Keira is my least favourite.

I also love Anna and Rose, but suspect those are a bit simple for your taste!

I don’t like the Annabelle spelling at all.

BootballJoy · 07/12/2024 10:51

Rosalind or Annabel

MirandaBlu · 07/12/2024 10:51

I'd choose Annabel(le) and would use the Annabel spelling, although it's only a slight edge to me over -le. IME - I've known a few of each - I think that in England Annabel and Annabelle have the same default pronunciation. Anabel, the Spanish-language default, is also popular but places the emphasis on the last syllable (ahn-ah-BEL rather than AHN-ah-bel).

GreyhoundGal1 · 07/12/2024 11:17

I like all of them. Do any of them go best with your surname, ie starting letter or syllable flow? I like different syllable numbers and starting letters for middle names personally so I think my order of preference would be:

  1. Annabel Ruby
  2. Rosalind Keira
  3. Ruby Annabel
  4. Keira Rose

If popularity could help here are the 2023 naming stats for each:

#39 Ruby (1,059 girls)
#129 Annabelle (387 girls)
#296 Annabel (148 girls)
#345 Keira (125 girls)
#1325 Rosalind (24 girls) - bear in mind Rosie, Rose and Rosa all very popular though

BabCNesbitt · 07/12/2024 11:17

I have a Rosalind who also has a three syllable middle name. It’s very pleasing for yelling her full name up the stairs when she’s taking ages to get ready for school 😁

BeretInParis · 07/12/2024 12:44

Some pretty names. I'd wait until your DD arrives to see what she looks like / feels right. We had a list for our DD and tried her with different names over a couple of days to choose the combination that was truly 'her'.

Atishooo · 07/12/2024 13:05

Keira Rose is too many Rrrrs and Rose is the most overused middle name currently (along with Grace/May), it’s been done to death.

I like Keira and Annabel. I don’t like Rosalind at all and it will just get shortened to Ros. Ruby was hugely common about ten years ago so feels a bit dated.

crazycatladie · 07/12/2024 13:07

Annabelle Rose

peachypeachy999 · 07/12/2024 13:17

Hi, I’m an Annabelle. I’m almost 50 and I’ve always loved my name.
I hadn’t met another Annabelle until I was 22 but it is much more popular now.
i gave this name to my Daughter as a middle name.

I have always had to spell it though, as there are several ways to spell it.

Commonsense22 · 07/12/2024 13:31

Annabelle - I prefer both the spelling and pronunciation. Lovely names, you can't go wrong.

louisianachild · 07/12/2024 13:38

Annabel is better imo, Annabelle feels too fussy with the two sets of double letters.

Sunnyflow · 07/12/2024 14:37

Annabelle is the French spelling and pronounced AnnaBELLE

Annabel is the English spelling and pronounced ANNAbel.

I much prefer the elegance of Annabel.

Sunnyflow · 07/12/2024 14:37

But Rosalind is my favourite of your names! It sounds beautiful and memorable

DuchessOfSausage · 07/12/2024 17:07

I don't like Keira and Rose is overused as a middle name.
Ruby will get shortened to Rube or Rubes.

Annabel is OK but Annabelle is too frilly. Prefer Anna.
Rosalind is lovely but will get shortened.

Scutterbug · 07/12/2024 17:08

Annabel for me, my daughter’s middle name.

mum1345 · 07/12/2024 18:25

Ruby! Suits all ages.
My little girl (3) gets many compliments on it.
She is shortened to Rue with a few people calling her Rubes.
I often call her RuRu 😂

mum1345 · 07/12/2024 18:28

I'm not a fan of Keira, not sure why and a lot of people on here mention the spelling being an issue.
I'm not keen on Annabelle as it seems to frilly and I'm not sure on Rosalind, I like Rosa though which is a potential nickname
So my vote goes to Ruby!
Ruby Annabelle would work well xx

leia24 · 07/12/2024 18:29

I hate Ruby it's overdone. I like Keira or Annabelle. I don't like Rosalind but do like Rose/Rosa.

Pumpkincozynights · 07/12/2024 18:30

Annabel and that spelling.
