As in title what do y'all think?

Too matchy for me I’m afraid. Ruby is the one I’d keep.

MumonabikeE5 · 05/11/2024 14:46

Go for it.
Amber, Opal, Pearl would also be nice options.

i like that with Ruby and Jade you’d have easy colour coding of possessions etc

ThianWinter · 05/11/2024 14:47

I love the names.

girljulian · 05/11/2024 14:49

I like Jade, but Ruby sounds trashy to me.

UltramarineViolet · 05/11/2024 14:50

Not awful by any means but the combination is a bit twee and also feels a bit dated (90s/00s)

mathanxiety · 05/11/2024 14:50

I think just a little matchy too, though both are very nice individually.

I don't know which one I would keep and what I'd substitute.

Ruby is a very popular name, Jade a bit less so.
Jade and Hazel
Ruby and Holly...

I'm not sure they're so matchy I'd change all the same. Ruby and Romy would be too much. Jade and Jude obv way too much.

Perzival · 05/11/2024 14:52

One of our children had three girls in his primary class called Ruby. There was a lot if singing Ruby, Ruby, Ruby lala la lala. I wouldn't just for that reason.

Really? When I looked up old Mumsnet threads on the names alone the consensus seemed to be the other way around.

I love the idea of red and green hair bows and things but I'm not sure if people would think I'm trying a bit too hard haha

Until Ruby decides her favourite colour is green and Jade decides hers is red.

Moreteaandchocolate · 05/11/2024 15:20

Ruby and Jade are two of my favourite ever names and sound lovely together! I like them together but if you wanted to go less match then maybe a nature them but not both gemstones?
E.g.

Ruby and Willow
Iris and Jade

loropianalover · 05/11/2024 15:22

It’s giving Ruby and Garnet from Double Act! I don’t like it OP, sorry.

One of my favourite childhood books had twins called Ruby and Garnet, I always preferred the name Garnet over Ruby though personally

Boltonb · 05/11/2024 15:23

Hideous. Also, they’re people, not a gimmick.

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/11/2024 15:25

Too twee for me but personal taste. Also find Jade quite dated these days. I’d choose

Ruby and Iris
Ruby and Cora
Ruby and Stella
Ruby and Rose
Ruby and Lily
Ruby and Isla
Ruby and Sadie
Ruby and Mia
Ruby and Elsie
Ruby and Molly

vegaspot · 05/11/2024 15:26

I like Ruby but Jade is very dated .

Love all of these options but I’d keep Jade instead of Ruby 😂 Cora, Stella, and Molly are particularly nice.

StormingNorman · 05/11/2024 15:28

Slightly cheesy naming them both after stones.

TheBeesKnee · 05/11/2024 15:30

Ruby and Poppy?

Ruby, Rose, Sienna, Saffron (Wink)

I knew a Jade who wasn't very nice so I'm prejudiced against that name.

Not Ruby and Pearl. There's twins (one of whom dies young) called that in a well-known novel.

Comedycook · 05/11/2024 15:31

They sound ok together.

Ruby is one of my faves.
Jade is a bit 90s imo but nice enough

Firsttimebabymummy · 05/11/2024 15:39

Go for it. I really like them, Jade is my favourite.
Ruby and Jade <3

Also like the Jade and Hazel suggestion above.

AddictedToBooks · 05/11/2024 15:40

I think they're beautiful together.

StressedQueen · 05/11/2024 17:49

I think it's lovely. It does also remind me of the Jacqueline Wilson book - Ruby and Garnet are both red jewelled names though. I also don't think it is too matchy at all. I know they are both jewels but they are also very well known as names. Also the red and green ribbon thing might be nice tbh to tell them apart! For my twin girls, it worked, because they liked the complete opposite colours haha.

GoldenLegend · 05/11/2024 17:57

I think they’re lovely! I love the jewel names: Beryl, Opal, Topaz are all lovely too.
