We are due twin boys soon and we still haven’t settled on names.

Our current front runners are Hugo and Magnus.

Thoughts? What else might we like? Really stuck!

ps definitely don’t want to do cutesy/matchy or same first initial

LePetitMaman · 01/11/2024 22:31

Hugo is also massively overused now.

Which I suppose has taken most of the "old fashioned posh" out of it, but doesn't change the image that you've picked it in the hope it still sounds that way.

Classic names always have the right note to them, if you want to sound strong and classy; Johnathan, Maxwell, William, Alexander etc.

There are a Peregrin and Merlin at my children's school, and whilst it is a naice school, it is not upper class old money, which is what these particular parents think they look like by naming their children as such. Whereas they actually look a bit silly.

Twins are awesome by the way, hope all goes well with the pregnancy.

I like Hugo and Magnus a lot.

I have a Hugh and also loved Angus, so similar tastes. Hugo and Angus is nice.

Also love Alisdair/Alistair

Interlaken · 02/11/2024 06:41

I prefer Magnus to Hugo,
What about Rory, or Rasmus.

houseselling101 · 01/11/2024 20:38

Congratulations!

I have twins!

One tip is to try shouting the names you like out loud and imagine you are doing it across a busy playground 😂 you don't want anything too wordy (or odd!) as you'll be saying them often enough!

And be careful about using names people give dogs, you don't want to shout 'Oscar' and have 1 child and three labs run up to you.

Pipsquiggle · 02/11/2024 06:48

orangetriangle · 01/11/2024 21:56

How about Hugo and Milo

No - I hate the matchy 'o' at the end

Pipsquiggle · 02/11/2024 06:52

As a twin, my DPs didn't want 'matchy' names either which I will be forever grateful for, particularly in the teenage years.

Love Hugo, less keen on Magnus but still a strong option.
Max
Rory
Gregory

olympicsrock · 02/11/2024 06:52

The problem with Magnus for a twin name is that it means ‘ the big one’ so you have to give to the larger twin at birth but what if the other one grows taller?
