Thoughts on Stella?

Newmumin23 · 24/10/2024 08:08

My husband absolutely loves it, I like it and also can’t come up with anything else.

What are people’s thoughts on it? Any middle name suggestions?

Also very aware of the lager association but I don’t think any of our friends/family would mention it even if they thought it to themselves.

Stella Maria means star of the sea.
Beautiful

I love it. And it’s infinitely nicer than Estella or Estelle

Turnups · 24/10/2024 10:13

I like 'Stella'. I don’t like Estelle or Estella (sounds too fancy and shades of Great Expectations).

FayCarew · 24/10/2024 10:27

Estelle makes me think of the old Skoda. Estella is nice but a bit Great Expectations and runs the risk of being Essie or Estee, and there are so many E names around.
I prefer Stella.

I like it, it's really pretty and not over used at the moment.
I would probably go for a fairly traditional middle name like Elizabeth or Charlotte

It’s OK, but I can’t not sing “Sheila goes out with her mate Stella” whenever I see it.

This. Which is unfortunate as it's Dni name 😅

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 24/10/2024 13:46

I love Stella and Estelle. I had boys so couldn't use either. Guess what my car is called!

user1492757084 · 24/10/2024 13:47

Stella - smart and feminine

mightaswellfaceityoureaddictedtolove · 24/10/2024 13:49

I love it. It was on my list for my daughter (now 17 so a while back). It's a very cool name with a lovely meaning.

OccasionalHope · 24/10/2024 14:00

It’s beautiful.

Footle · 24/10/2024 14:58

@Boobygravy , it's Stella Maris, not Maria. I know because I was born in the Stella Maris nursing home!

Cas112 · 24/10/2024 15:08

Hate it

Always think of Stella artois 😂

RuthW · 24/10/2024 16:54

Stella is lovely and certainly not dated as someone else said. I also like Estella.

Newmumin23 · 24/10/2024 18:58

Ah it’s had much better feedback than I thought actually which is good. Unless I come up with another option I think she’ll be Stella.

@helloyoumums that’s interesting as I’ve never thought of it as dated. To me 80s/90s names like Gemma, Kelly, Stephanie would be dated at the moment.

I’m not keen on Estelle/Estella I don’t know why.

I like Stella. Classic but not common. I prefer it to the other options, although I do love Saskia. I don't have any negative connotations - didn't think of the beer!

pavementgerms · 24/10/2024 19:05

I love it. Classy and gorgeous.

tsmainsqueeze · 24/10/2024 19:15

Really lovely , classic and 'different' certainly not dated as previously mentioned.

RedRobyn2021 · 24/10/2024 19:16

Tbh I really don't like it

But I know lots of people do love it

NewShoes · 24/10/2024 19:18

It's a beautiful name :-)

MulderitsmeX · 24/10/2024 19:18

I like stella, it makes me think of Streetcar but just a passing remeberance. Strong and pretty name

Love saskia too

Atishooo · 24/10/2024 19:40

I don’t like it at all, never have. For some reason it feels a bit trashy, and I don’t know why. Saskia is so much nicer.

SallyWD · 24/10/2024 20:11

I absolutely love it. One of my favourite names. Like the meaning too.

MumonabikeE5 · 24/10/2024 20:12

Great solid name.
