I feel like this is the right now for our second DD

DP liked it when we discussed it earlier in the pregnancy but now he said he's worried it's like a stripper name

I don't think it is at all, please let me know your thoughts?

I like it. And the meaning Dawn. And the nn Rory.

Also like Aurelia or Amelia as alternatives.

s3tut0y3r · 29/09/2024 20:55

It's a lovely name. There is a Hallmark series about Aurora Teagarden and the name is shortened to Roe, which is also pretty.

teatoast8 · 29/09/2024 20:56

My daughters name 🥰

It’s the name of a Disney princess. For this reason I wouldn’t choose it myself.
Its pretty, not a stripper name.

My daughter was named after the lights not the Princess

I hate that Rory is becoming a girls' name,

I hate that Rory is becoming a girls' name,

You could always use Rora instead?

WoahThreeAces · 29/09/2024 20:59

Weirdly I know several Auroras under 5 - I quite like it as a name but it strikes me as one of those that people think are unusual but then there's three in a class...

ZenNudist · 29/09/2024 21:03

I don't like it. I do think of Disney princess. Not a great association.

Heatherbell1978 · 29/09/2024 21:10

It's the kind of name I find a bit hard to say, maybe just my accent. It's quite a 'big' name I think. Not keen really.

Gigi5 · 29/09/2024 21:15

Pretty in writing but I feel like every time I say it I slur my words. Think it's all the vowels.

I hate that Rory is becoming a girls' name,

Why does it bother you so much?

Berlinlover · 29/09/2024 21:18

Terrible name OP, sorry.

Phineyj · 29/09/2024 21:18

I love it and would have used either that or Aurelia for a second daughter if I'd had one.

notnorman · 29/09/2024 21:18

teatoast8 · 29/09/2024 20:56

My daughters name 🥰

And mine! Named after the lights too. Rora.

SouthLondonMum22 · 29/09/2024 21:25

I find it really hard to say. Like I just can’t get my mouth around it? Not a fan.

ProvincialLady2024 · 29/09/2024 21:28

It's too Disney Princess for me.

StressedQueen · 29/09/2024 21:38

Gorgeous, beautiful name - I love it. But it will definitely be incredibly popular.

Yeahnoforsure · 29/09/2024 22:19

I'm not a fan of the name Aurora, and when someone has difficulty saying the name, it does come out sounding awkward.
As was mentioned already Aurora will likely end up being shortened to something entirely different, which is fine if you're okay with that.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2024 22:26

I hate it. It's such an ugly sounding name. Same goes for Rory.

Catcatkitten · 29/09/2024 22:35

I know two Auroras, both are as far from the stereotypical 'princess' image as you could get and go by Rory. One is a rough and tumble rugby player and the other is an angelic looking toddler with extremely impressive tantrums!

shoopshoopdedoo · 29/09/2024 22:35

If I’m being honest, it’s one of my least favourite names. I find it too princess-y, and it seems a bit faddy. However, obviously none of that matters if you and your partner love it!

Sgtmajormummy · 29/09/2024 22:46

If I tell you the name sounds like “Scooby Doo talk” you’ll never unhear it…
(Ro ro rah)

marshmallowfinder · 29/09/2024 23:00

Wor wor wah. I really dislike it I'm afraid.

Viviennemary · 29/09/2024 23:07

It is a very nice name. But a bit too ..........

MissSkegness1951 · 29/09/2024 23:14

We have an Aurelia in our family.

Aurora is a bit clunky.
