it's about the only name DH and I can agree on for our first (due in 6 weeks) and is also the maiden name of my friend who introduced me to DH in the first place

he is Welsh and has a typical Welsh surname but i am English and it is likely we will stay living in England so wanted something to give him a sense of heritage but...

recently i have seen that Melina Messenger has a son called Morgan plus i think Bianca's son on Eastenders is also Morgan

Am I thinking too hard on this one?? Why is it that boys names are so hard to choose - no contest for a girl if we ever have one she will be Rhiannon

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/04/2008 21:16

Oh god choccypig - please don't suggest Mason - have you not seen the recent threads on this?!

JodieG1 · 20/04/2008 21:18

My first son is called Morgan, I love it, he's 4 and a half.

JodieG1 · 20/04/2008 21:18

Please no one slag the name off, my ds1 is a lovely, cute, adorable boy

It'll have been Morgan Freeman's fault, he is such a cool guy! (Esp in Shawshank)

CSWSleep. Haven't seen recent threads on Mason, but I thought it was a great name, (wouldn't go with surname luckily) until I met 3 Masons at nursery who were ALL badly behaved. So I wasn't suggesting it, but meaning to warn OP that it is TOO LATE for Mason, (and Miller)

harpomarx · 20/04/2008 21:27

great name, know a boy (man actually) and a girl with that name.

the only you might think about is whether there is any chance it will do a Beverley, Hilary or a Kimberley!

mellyonion · 20/04/2008 21:28

lovely name, but there are 4 boy morgans in my sons class of 30 children! its fairly popular here in wales(oh blimey...just thinking about them, and actually they are all naughty!!!!)

chocolateshoes · 20/04/2008 21:38

I know 4 toddler Morgans round here (NW England) - not all naughty though!!

hoxtonchick · 20/04/2008 21:39

have e-mailed you obm .

i like the name morgan too.

fishie · 20/04/2008 21:42

i work with a morgan, he is early 40s, very nice. i don't htink anyone has every wondered about his name, it is a perfectly normal name. i find out if he is welsh.

harpomarx · 20/04/2008 21:44

think there is alternative spelling Maughan too.

and not just surname before anyone says that

northernbelle · 20/04/2008 22:29

Thanks for all comments, good and bad! I never realised it was such a popular name and I can't say i like the idea of there being 4 Morgans in his class at school although naughtiness sounds about right if he is going to be his Mothers son

Hmmm.... maybe home schooling is the answer...

hc - not got it.. will email you to check which address ..

i was determined to use the name Morgan for a girl as it is my mothers maiden name, however during pregnancy number 3 and 2 sons already we decided to use it for either gender. Our DD Morgan is now 9 and a real tomboy!

i still love the name for boy or girl but bad news to hear that Eastenders now have one!
