I really struggle with baby names and want the twins to have names that compliment each other. Open to suggestions.

Paisley - Have you been there? Suggestions: Presley, Shankly
Willow - OK, popular. Suggestions: Hazel, Laurel, Heather
Phoebe - like. Suggestions: Daphne
Lainey - not OK.
Esther - Suggestions: Ruth, Rachel, Miriam, Martha
Sadie - OK. Suggestions: Cassie
Anwen - it's OK. Suggestions: Arwen, Alwen. Some other vintage Welsh name.

Heavenlyhoumous · 01/09/2024 12:31

My favourites are Phoebe and Esther and I think they sound lovely together. Maybe Edith, Beatrice, ivy as alternatives. Willow is pretty, Olive? Not keen on Lainey and Paisley sounds like a boys name to me.

My favourites are Esther, Anwen and Phoebe.

Esther and Rachael, Anna, Philippa
Anwen and Bridie, Davina, Catrin
Phoebe and Sophia, Zoe, Calladora

As individual names:
Paisley - Dislike...feel it's one of those names that have weird endings if you get me. Like Aubreigh instead of Aubrey or whatever
Willow - Really pretty to me! Not too common
Phoebe - Lovely classic - it is gorgeous
Lainey - Doesn't seem like a full name to me
Esther - I'll always think of the character from Orphan
Sadie - I love this, very sweet
Anwen - Great name, I love Arwen as well

I think any combinations from Willow, Phoebe and Sadie would work really, really well. Anwen is nice but not sure how it work in real life. Congrats on your twins!

One reason I really struggle with naming girls is because I work in a girls school and associate so many names to children. My partner is also 1 of 7 with over 20 nieces and nephews, so many of the suggested names are already within the family.

No, I have not been to Paisley😂 Is it really that bad?

Our daughter has a welsh name, Gwennan, and I love how much variety it brings. She is often shortened to Gwenny or Gwen. I love Esther, Willow, Phoebe, and Sadie but I don't feel like they have any decent variations.

Willow and Phoebe are lovely together

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/09/2024 16:17

I know they’re not all on your list and some from your list I’ve not included. Lainey for example is a 50 odd year old women named Elaine aka Lainey. Her twin is called Pamela or Bernadette (Bernie).
Here are some (IMO)good parings for twins
Phoebe and Willow
Sadie and Nancy
Esther and Louisa.
Paisley and Harper.
Amelia and Olivia.
Sophia and Isobel.
Poppy and Daisy.
Rachel and Hannah.
Willow and Jasmine.
Cynthia and Bridget.
Amy and Zoe.
Molly and Rosie.
Shannon and Tiffany.
Bonnie and Cassie.
Meadow. and Blossom.
Elena and Terese
Eden and Skye.
Anna and Zoe.
Saskia and Melody.
Coral and Pearl.
Anastasia and Valentina.
Charlotte and Emily.
Martha and Virginia.
Lily and Rose.
Mabel and Dorothy
Lydia and Hazel.
Summer and Violet.
Katherine and Eleanor (Katie and Ellie)

Willow and Meadow.
Esther is ok. Maybe with Heidi.
Sorry don't like the rest.
Lainey is awful. Elaine or Elena?

Boybaby · 01/09/2024 18:14

Esther and Phoebe are my first vote, both are biblical names so relates them.
Second would be Willow and Sadie, they both feel like nature names which pairs them well. Potentially more inline with your first daughter’s name.

I'd choose Esther and Phoebe.

I know an Esther whose nickname is Etta, and a Phoebe who was nicknamed Bebe ('beebee') as a child and moved on to Bee as a teen.

Gwennan is a lovely name, fwiw.

ProvincialLady2024 · 02/09/2024 04:45

Phoebe And Esther

theduchessofspork · 03/09/2024 09:18

Phoebe and Esther work very well
Bee and Tess for short if they want that

I like Anwen - maybe Anwen and Ffion? It’s more distinctly twinny though

Sadie is ok
Willow a bit unfortunate if she doesn’t turn out Willowy.
lainey best left in a noughties teen drama, and Paisley.. have you been there?!

MiddleAgedDread · 03/09/2024 13:11

Even people from Paisley will admit it's a shithole!!

Gwennan, Arwen and Eleri
Gwennan, Arwen and Elinor
Gwennan, Arwen and Liliwen
Gwennan, Arwen and Lowri

Gwennan, Arwen and Seren

WrongSortOfPoster · 03/09/2024 14:46

My eyes hurt looking at that list.

Why are the placenames suggested as girl's names usually not the nicest of places?

Notreat · 03/09/2024 14:49

My favourites from your list are Phoebe and Esther.
Do you have Welsh connections though? If so you might want to prefer Welsh names to complement your older daughter's name.
