I’ve just found the baby name board and I’m new here. 💜
can I ask people’s opinions of the name Oakley for a girl please? And reasons for disliking it, if you do!
Does it go with sisters Scarlett and Bella?

thank you 💕

Romilly? Like Romy but longer like Oakley?

Oh wait! Do you mean your horse is called Fleur? I might have read that wrong 😂

Yep!! That's my horses names. I've had them years and didn't think to save for future baby name. I had my little girl 3 months ago so was a struggle choosing a name for her.

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/08/2024 22:41

Flora?

You have such beautiful girls names. Do you ever find anyone not being able to pronounce Fleur? Do you have any nicknames? Not that it needs any of course 💜

Some vets have said it like 'floor' and 'flew-er' (usually when english is their 2nd language)

eggandchip · 25/08/2024 22:46

Earther.

leighks123 · 25/08/2024 22:46

I actually loved this name for a girl spelt Oakleigh buttt you brutal lot have put me off completely 😂😂

Flora?

Absolutely love this name, but dislike the butter association 😭

Faith Iris is a lovely combination of names, and Scarlet, Bella and Faith really works well together IMO.

They successfully put me off within about 3 comments 😂 but I was never convinced enough to add to the list of names we both agree on anyway, so this was the final decider 😂

You could always name the baby the day she is born on.

TheBossOfMe · 25/08/2024 22:49

Romy is gorgeous with either of your middle names.

I also really like this, and I feel that Fay (the other middle name) is sort of included within the name Faith, so both special names are in there. Also love Faith for its meaning, which is really important to our family. 💕

Tbh I don't like it. Pp suggestion of Willow is a good one, same tree vibe, goes with the siblings names, and it's lovely.

ladygindiva · 25/08/2024 22:52

Romy and Faith are both nice too

birdsongfromtheshedroof · 25/08/2024 22:56

From your list I love Fleur.
Romy is ok but I know one and she's really annoying so the association puts me off, but I do like the name!
Willow very common now.
Oakley = sunglasses

TizerorFizz · 25/08/2024 22:56

@verityrosa Where on earth do you live if people cannot pronounce Fleur! Have they an issue with French? My DD has a French name. It’s never been an issue. Lots of weirdly spelt names cause many more pronunciation problems. I think Faye, Faith and Fleur are good names. Iris is used a lot now but it’s a flower - a bit like Fleur!

OccasionalHope · 25/08/2024 23:03

Oakley sounds like a house or road name rather than a person,

Fleur is lovely. Or what about Flora?

theduchessofspork · 25/08/2024 23:40

Dear god no, it sounds like a kind of creosote

glitches78 · 25/08/2024 23:40

I like Willow but the nickname Willy I hate!! For obvious reasons lol

I know a Fleur who would be in her 40s now. You don't have to be brave to use it at all. If not how about Freya or Ffion?

BobbyBiscuits · 25/08/2024 23:43

I think I actually prefer it for a girl. But I'm feeling it's a bit 'trendy' so may not age that well.
What about Oki? I think that's unisex? Obviously it's quite unusual, but similar sounding.

theduchessofspork · 25/08/2024 23:44

Faith Iris is really nice

Romy is alright but a bit nothingy .
Fleur always sounds like someone throwing up to me
Willow will be a bit unfortunate if she is more of a chunky hockey player type

As in okey dokey?

I presume it’s been a good evening?!

Clearinguptheclutter · 25/08/2024 23:45

I think Oakley is just awful but I like all your other options.

Your future daughter will thank us!

Even worse with the tragedeigh spelling.

wafflesmgee · 25/08/2024 23:50

Yuk.
Sounds like a car brand to me, it's not a name.
Also
"Oakley doakley " as in ok doky springs to mind
Oh-key as in where is my key?
