Daisy - too juvenile?

Expecting a baby girl and really struggling to pick a name, so far all we have agreed on is Daisy but we are worried that it's too juvenile for an adult. So what do you think is Daisy too juvenile?

Full name would be Daisy Alexandra Forbes

I mean, it's ok. If you loved it, fine. But if you loved it would you be asking?

There's just not much to it. Daisies are nice enough but they're hardly the most exciting flower and they're totally ubiquitous. I wouldn't particularly love being called Daisy, I don't think.

Naomi or Elena are much more elegant.

I think your name list could be the same one, you have similar tastes, you just haven't hit on the right one.

I like the combination of Daisy Alexandra, they balance each other. I agree with the best option being to name her Margaret or Marguerite and using Daisy as a family nickname if you want to.

I like daisy but also Margaret, also love the Peggy diminutive though I do see Su Pollard!

It's a perfectly fine name.

Not my personal taste though. I prefer stronger sounding names so avoid anything with a diminutive ending. So for example I prefer Christina, Joanna and Paula to Christine, Joanne and Pauline.

However, my personal preferences are irrelevant. It's a decent name so go with it, OP.

I like it, but I'm at least a generation older than you. My first thought was Daisy Haggard who I think is extremely talented.

I don't love it whereas I love Alexandra, we are all different which is a good thing

There are many kinds of daisies in many colours. I love the pink and white ones that grow from cracks and in walls, almost from nothing. They are the ones that remind me of my GGM.

The Daisy I work with is very elegant, she has a long neck and excellent poise. So her name doesn’t feel twee, as she is a long way from being twee.

Margaret is fricking hideous, who would name their child that? Nothing like the French version which sounds much classier.

You say you love Daisy but you seem pretty unsure about it so I wouldn't go for it on that basis. I think El beginning names and names ending in 'a' with Alexandra as a middle name don't really work so well. Holly, Rosie and Naomi work best from the list IMO.

As you both seem to like names ending with an 'ee' sound - Daisy, Naomi, Rosie, Holly, Emily - and they run well with Alexandra, what about looking at other names that end with that sound? Sadie, Callie, Ruby, Elsie, Lucie, Darcy, Dolcie etc?

I don't see the name as juvenile because it was a friend's great aunt's name when I was little. It didn't seem any more childish than Jenny, George or Charlie.

Margaret isn't hideous, fricking or otherwise.

If I booked an appointment with a doctor or lawyer and saw their name was Daisy I don’t know if I would be filled with confidence. It’s adorable for a little girl toddling around but doesn’t sound very…grown up.

Personally -yes, I do think it sounds quite childish. A bit like Poppy. For some reason, I don’t feel this way about other floral names like Lily or Rose - maybe it’s because I’ve haven’t personally met any older Daisy’s, only young ones.

BUT I find quite a few of the current Top 100 “ie/y” ending names sound quite childish, so it’s clearly a me problem- they must be popular for a reason, so I can’t see that Daisy would cause your daughter any issues.

Personally can't stand the cutesy baby style names as I find them cringe making on adult women. Daisy is in that bracket along with names like Honey and Poppy. Molly is on the edge of OK for adults. Its very subjective and lots of people like them but I dont!

I like to see what would happen if someone called her 'Juvenile' ...

I think it's lovely but it doesn't have much scope for being a strong name if she turns out to be a very strong character.

No one’s saying women with that name can’t achieve and are actually juvenile though are they? Just that it’s quite a young sounding cutesy name for me it conjures up an image of a curly haired toddler in a summer dress not an adult woman. You obviously are fine with it - it’s subjective and op did ask.
