I know of two people with the initials FGM and FFS…. Neither appear to have noticed so I’m not bribing it to their attention!

😭

I knew someone who admitted to accidentally giving her daughter the initials MAD. The first name was a combination of her and her mother's name, so they gave MIL's name as a middle name, and never thought it through.

I know someone whose middle name was going to be Anthony, giving him the initials MAD. His mother changed her mind and gave him a different surname.

Initials are never used ever.

So most of you would have had to put the initials together to see what word they spell.

It's weird.

Just because you don't use them doesn't mean other people done. At work team meetings are minuted with people's initials used instead of full names.

I knew someone whose dad had the initials WET so he decided not to give his children middle names, so their initials couldn't spell anything embarrassing. Both children were ST - which was a common abbreviation for "sanitary towels" when we were growing up.

Throwwaway · 16/07/2024 18:15

An old colleague’s dad was called Graham Ian Thorpe and so his work login was GIT

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have two kids with the first initial ‘R’, R Swash! Hope it’s double barrelled.

I worked with a guy whose surname was Mangin, his first name started with A so his system login was ‘Mangina’. I used to make me snigger when I saw it logged into the printer…he was a total dick!

So when I read this I could t work it out. Hours later I am driving my son and shouted 'arsewash'. It is the last week of term in my defence.

My friend’s employer uses 3-4 initials for staff email addresses. My friend doesn’t have a middle name, so was asked to choose a letter to go between her first and last initial

It was before the days of email but my father once had an employer who wouldn't accept just a first and last name.

His records had him down as John N M I Smith (John Smith wasn't his real name). The N M I stood for "no middle initial"!

Thisisjustshite · 16/07/2024 23:51

A boy with initials ADHD. He’s a distant cousin.
Done deliberately, those middle names could easily have been switched around. His parents are not unaware, they are both primary school teachers.

DreamTheMoors · 17/07/2024 05:45

I don’t remember where I read it, but a young woman was lamenting her name.
She’d gone to work for a large company and they assigned email addresses by the first initial of the first name and then the last name, which in her case, was “s hart,” or shart. shart at company dot com
hahaha
Poor thing. It is pretty funny, though. 😂

Shielehdie · 17/07/2024 07:47

I went to school with a girl called Colleen Una Walsh. That was fine, until she married a man with the surname Martin.

I think I’d have kept my own surname in those circumstances!

LaMarschallin · 18/07/2024 06:40

I've come across some rhyming names but usually when the person has changed their names after marriage. Obviously don't want to give the real names but something like Jane Payne.
But a friend gave her daughter a rhyming name saying that the endings sounded different. So like "Eleanor Pelena". She said people would know it was "Elean-OR Pelen-AH".
Obviously everyone calls her "Elena Pelena".
And an American family I knew called their children Penelope, Kenneth and Dennis deliberately to get Penny, Kenny and Denny.

Does he have ADHD, by any chance?
