Sister for Olivia, Claudia, Arthur and George

We already have an Olivia Georgiana, Arthur Thomas, George Edward and Claudia Marie. We are trying to decide between Matilda and Sofia (this is the spelling of the country where I’m from). We like classic names and have considered Alice, Emily and Francesca. She has dark hair thick hair (all my other children have light hair) and dark eyes at the moment. I feel like she doesn’t suit the names Alice and Emily. We had a fairly traumatic experience post birth so have only just gathered the mental strength to think about names properly. The middle name is likely to be Elizabeth. Is Matilda a classic name? I like the meaning which is Mighty in Battle. It feels like we have had a few since the birth. Sofia is a softer name meaning Wise but I feel like it does suit her as well. Maybe Matilda Sofia Elizabeth? I would appreciate all opinions!

Matilda is lovely, I'm biased as I have a Tilly 🥰 congratulations!

GruntledGoblin · 12/07/2024 10:28

They're all really lovely names 😍

Firsttimebabymummy · 12/07/2024 11:20

They're all lovely. I voted Sofia but I only slightly prefer it over Matilda.

Just love names of all your children.
Id like to suggest - Anya Elizabeth

All beautiful names! Alice is my personal favourite ❤️ I voted for Sofia - I think it’s such a pretty but classic name, and I love the shortening Fia 😊

Thank you! It’s really hard to decide this time around. My name is a version of Anya so we have taken it off the list. It’s a lovely name!

I also like that it’s a classic international name. It works well in both countries. Fia is a very pretty shortening as well! It’s so tough to decide!

Sorry, @Froniga didn't mean to quote you

Congratulations Op on your baby number 5. Big families are lovely. I have 6! 3 of each!

Judgejudysno1fan · 12/07/2024 16:17

Sofia is a lovely Arabic name, just like Hannah, but is spelt Hana and also with Layla.

itsgettingweird · 12/07/2024 16:20

I love Matilda.

The other names I was going to suggest were Alice and Charlotte.

Charlotte Elizabeth would be lovely!

I would go for Miranda, but Matilda and Sofia are both lovely.

Maharajah20 · 12/07/2024 16:42

Love your names! I like both Sofia and Matilda but think Sofia goes slightly better with your other girls names. What about Gabriella, Lilliana, Lucia or Emilia? Congratulations on your new daughter.

Ladyoftheapple · 12/07/2024 18:27

Margot

SkaneTos · 12/07/2024 22:02

Lovely names, all three of them!
I voted for Francesca.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/07/2024 23:44

I voted Francesca as I thought it might be lovely to have another name that was slightly more unusual (like the gorgeous Claudia) . However I realised you didn’t say if you are currently living in the UK so maybe all your name choices are popular where you are? In which case Sofia might also be nice to match the -ia ending of both her sisters.

ThePoetsWife · 13/07/2024 07:01

Alicia
Francesca

I like Matilda, or Mathilda. I’ve got quite a few kids but I was disappointed I never got my last girl as I’d picked Marianne (like Dashwood), shortened to Marnie. Also love Flora and Mary (but wasn’t there a Mary Elizabeth something or other?). Sofia, or Sophia is very very common near me (as in lots of people have the name) so I like it less, but not terrible.

I love the name Emilia but my daughter’s best friend is called that so I heavily associate it with her. My cousin is called Liliana so I also won’t be able to use it. Great suggestions!

Yes we are living in the UK. I think Sofia is the most popular out of the 3 then it’s Matilda (which is top 40 I think) and Francesca is around 110 in the name charts…
