Sister for Olivia, Claudia, Arthur and George

We already have an Olivia Georgiana, Arthur Thomas, George Edward and Claudia Marie. We are trying to decide between Matilda and Sofia (this is the spelling of the country where I’m from). We like classic names and have considered Alice, Emily and Francesca. She has dark hair thick hair (all my other children have light hair) and dark eyes at the moment. I feel like she doesn’t suit the names Alice and Emily. We had a fairly traumatic experience post birth so have only just gathered the mental strength to think about names properly. The middle name is likely to be Elizabeth. Is Matilda a classic name? I like the meaning which is Mighty in Battle. It feels like we have had a few since the birth. Sofia is a softer name meaning Wise but I feel like it does suit her as well. Maybe Matilda Sofia Elizabeth? I would appreciate all opinions!

I love both (along with your other childrens’ names). Both work well and sound lovely. I would go Sofia.

Based on what you've said re experience and colouring:

Leila Sophia - Leila means Dark Beauty

You could go 'out there' and choose Raven.

Cassandra means warrior or you could go really obvious and use Boudicca!

All three are lovely names.

I voted for Matilda.
Matilda Sophie
Matilda Elizabeth
Second I like Sophia or Sophie.
Sophie Matilda
Sophie Elizabeth
Elizabeth Sophia

I like Francesca best.
Have you also considered Florence? Florence Elizabeth is lovely 😊

Mathilda and Sofia are lovely,

If Alice doesn't seem to suit her colouring or "look" is Alix better?

I suggested Leila but DH wasn’t keen! Love the meaning!

Florence is my favourite name but DH isn’t keen on Flo as a shortening unfortunately!

I like Alexandra with Alex for short!

Emilia was suggested and we took it off the list early on due to it being daughters friends name. Now I’m wondering about it. Is Emilia too matchy to be a sibling for Olivia and Claudia?

I know 2 sisters that are Amelia and Olivia. I think it goes well perfectly xx

If my boy had been a girl, we’d have picked the name Sofia with the middle name Alice! Both beautiful names! I really liked Matilda nn Tilly, until I heard a father shout ‘Tilda’ which sounded quite harsh.

I personally like the nickname Fifi.

My daughter is called Florence but Florie for short

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/07/2024 21:29

I’d suggest Helena, but then I’m biased. 🙂 There are lots of Sofias/Sophias at the moment.

Love Penelope, Arabella and Harriet! Our niece is called Penny, DH has vetoed Arabella and he occasionally doesn’t pronounce his T’s so Harriet (Hattie) won’t sound as nice unfortunately!

While I was pregnant (and before) I loved and was set on Matilda and I quite liked Sofia/ Sophie. My DH always wanted a girl called Sophie. Since giving birth I’m now really loving Sofia and DH is set on Matilda. Not sure why this has happened! Probably the stress post birth!
