This is our top contender name for DD. Well known name, internationally used and uncomplicated pronunciation. I can imagine it suiting a child and an adult.

I was wondering how common it is where you are in babies/toddlers atm?

One adult only.

combinationpadlock · 06/07/2024 19:54

I have known a few, In my experience it isn't a full adult name, it is a baby name, short for an adult name like Martina, or Christina.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/07/2024 19:56

Lots of little Ninas in my son's school (east London).

And I still read that as "Do you know many Ninjas?"

hildabaker · 06/07/2024 19:57

I don't know any , but actually it's a lovely name.

Sundaysunshine21 · 06/07/2024 20:02

I know two, both early/mid thirties. I don’t know any little ones but do see the name mentioned on here fairly often (I don’t know whether that transfers into any real world popularity though).

Roselilly36 · 06/07/2024 20:03

Only ever known one Nina, gorgeous name, great choice.

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/07/2024 20:03

I know a teenager. Her dad is German. Lovely name.

cheezncrackers · 06/07/2024 20:10

I know three. One is in her 70s, one is 16 and the other is 13. Really nice name! Easy to spell and pronounce too, which is always a bonus.

SprinkleOfSunak · 06/07/2024 20:18

I know a baby and a 5 year old Nina, and used to go to school with one.

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2024 20:24

One, who'll be early 30s now.

theleafandnotthetree · 06/07/2024 20:27

I know a Polish Nina, a 14 year old friend of my daughter living in Ireland. I'm biased maybe because she's a fab girl but I think it's wonderful - simple, international, easily pronouncable across multiple cultures, etc.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/07/2024 20:33

I think there were 99 of them.

And they were red.

Joolsin · 06/07/2024 20:33

One aged 7, her Dad is German. I think it's a lovely name.

pambeesleyhalpert · 06/07/2024 20:39

I know one in her 30s and a toddler

shoopshoopdedoo · 06/07/2024 20:39

I love the name Nina. I know two - both mid-30’s.

avocadotofu · 06/07/2024 20:40

I know two 5 year olds called Nina.

gravitytester · 06/07/2024 20:41

I know three, and another two as a nickname (full names Georgina and Janina).

I know of a few children Ninas too, but family of friends as opposed to people I know personally.

FloatinguptheLagan · 06/07/2024 21:17

I know 2 little Nina’s, one is 6 (her family are Dutch) and the other is 4. It’s a lovely, elegant name.

longdistanceclaraclara · 06/07/2024 21:34

I know two, both South African if that has anything to do with it. Both over 50.

aintnospringchicken · 06/07/2024 21:51

I know a 6 yr old Irish Nina

SkaneTos · 06/07/2024 21:52

Nina is a lovely name!

I only know two people with the name, one 70 year old woman, and one 45 year old woman.

sonjadog · 06/07/2024 21:55

I know quite a few, but I live in Scandinavia where it is a common name. Not so many children so it must be out of fashion right now, but it is a classic name, easy to pronounce and going to suit someone of all ages.

Branleuse · 06/07/2024 21:56

I know a couple. One is a teenage relative in France. The other is an adult in uk.
I like the name

Flopsy145 · 06/07/2024 21:58

I know one adult one, it's a lovely name and was on my list for dd. Also really happen to like nina Dobrev too 😂 but think it works at all ages, classic but not common, easy to pronounce. A solid beautiful name
