Last three before birth

Giving birth to DD2 in a few days, sister to Lucy, and here is the final shortlist:

  • Serena
  • Esme
  • Delphine

I am French, DH is British, we live in the UK.

I would like a name that is cheerful, like Lucy.

At this stage I am ready to go with the one that gets the most votes from this thread as I can't decide and love them equally!

thanks!

Lucy

LemonCitron · 06/06/2024 11:38

@Calphurnia Lucy is the existing child's name!

DramaAlpaca · 06/06/2024 11:43

To go with Lucy, Esme.

But Delphine is my favourite of the three.

I love Delphine! Unusual in the UK too (unlike Esme)

Mumofgirls2017 · 06/06/2024 12:25

esme best with Lucy but I prefer the other 2 personally. Esme still nice thoguh

MistyHazelFox · 06/06/2024 14:00

I would choose Delphine. I think it's significantly prettier than both Serena and Esme and I dislike Serina pronunciation of Serena, which seems wrong to me. But even if you pronounced Serena as Serenna, I would still think Delphine is significantly better, since it's romantic, has one pronunciation, it's elegant and it works in English flawlessly. I also don't think Serena is cheerful, more solemn and calm.

Esme

Serena

Serena. Esme is really popular (this may not bother you but it would put me off if it was my child!)
Delphine is pretty but Serena is just absolutely gorgeous.

GrannyOgre · 06/06/2024 15:00
  1. Delphine
  2. Serena
  3. Esme

Esme is very much third for me by a long chalk, I don’t dislike it but I don’t like it either. Although it goes better with Lucy than the other two. Lucy is lovely but it’s quite a plain, simple, English name. Delphine and Serena are much frillier, fancy names.
