Giving birth to DD2 in a few days, sister to Lucy, and here is the final shortlist:

  • Serena
  • Esme
  • Delphine

I am French, DH is British, we live in the UK.

I would like a name that is cheerful, like Lucy.

At this stage I am ready to go with the one that gets the most votes from this thread as I can't decide and love them equally!

thanks!

Serena is beautiful

MysticCT · 05/06/2024 21:42

Serena is lovely.

NarnianQueen · 05/06/2024 21:50

Delphine ❤️

If you name her Serena she'll be one of many 🤔

ilikeeggs · 05/06/2024 21:58

I like Serena the best. Delphine is nice but I just think of Delphine Donkey and Esme has the pronunciation issues.

NewShoes · 05/06/2024 22:16

Another vote for Delphine - very beautiful!

Esme

KirstenBlest · 06/06/2024 09:00

I don't think any of them have the same vibe as Lucy. I suggest Sophie.

Firsttimebabymummy · 06/06/2024 09:38

Serena! I absolutely love this name and pairs well with Lucy I feel.

2nd choice would be Esme.

Nopet · 06/06/2024 09:42

Esme .

Nopet · 06/06/2024 09:45

Esme and Lucy go so well together.

RubyBirdy · 06/06/2024 09:58

Love Serena, well known but not a commonly used name and it’s lovely!

Cherubs4 · 06/06/2024 10:01

Serena or Delphine! Good luck and let us know

FifiinLondon · 06/06/2024 10:08

Serena

Lucy and Serena sound like sisters.

Esme is not attractive to me,sorry.
I like Delphine and also ..
Adele
Marina

rainingsnoring · 06/06/2024 11:00

Serena is lovely and my favourite. I think Delphine is pretty too but none of them have the same feel as Lucy imo.

How about Alice, Julia/Juliet or Rose? I also really like pp's suggestions of Sophie, Adele and Marina.

FifiinLondon · 06/06/2024 11:04

@rainingsnoring funny that you suggest Alice and Juliet, they were two strong favourites up until recently. Rose my
cousin is called Rosa so can't do. Thanks for the suggestions!

DH's favourite is Serena, mine has always been Esme but now that we get very close to the birth, I feel like Serena might be stronger and more unique (but less French).

@FifiinLondon I think those two names are particularly lovely but all your current choices are good too. Serena is particularly elegant imo, Lucy more playful but both great names.
Perhaps wait until she is born and see how you both feel then.

Jessieshome · 06/06/2024 11:28

Definitely Delphine! It's beautiful!
Serena is a very close second.
I think there are quite a few Esme's about (and similar-ish sounding 'E' names like Emma, Elodie, Ella, Emily, Evie etc).
