I’d say Me-la, but friend of my child is ‘Miller’ (same spelling)and she is of Latvian extraction.

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/05/2024 19:37

My-la

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 29/05/2024 22:09

I would naturally think me-la but then than also feels a bit wrong given Milo is my-lo and you’d think it’s the same just with different ending

TheChosenTwo · 29/05/2024 22:11

Oh god I would have assumed Mia 😂 (don’t know why I wouldn’t pronounce the l!)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/05/2024 22:11

Meee-lah

HemmAyes · 29/05/2024 22:11

Mee-la

iAmBarbara · 29/05/2024 22:12

Mee lah (like mila kunis)

geminiflanagan · 29/05/2024 22:13

Mee-la

OddBoots · 29/05/2024 19:12

I would have though 'Mil-a' until I read some of these posts.

Same

Peridot1 · 29/05/2024 22:21

Mil-ah. I know two pronounced like that. Both Australian. Although to be fair one is a direct result of the other so if that’s wrong they both are!

theeyeofdoe · 29/05/2024 22:22

The Mila I know is Mi-la

jackstini · 29/05/2024 22:23

My-la because I know one who pronounces it like this

theeyeofdoe · 29/05/2024 22:24

But I have a northern accent - a DH has pointed out. He would prouncounce it Me-ah

OMGsamesame · 29/05/2024 22:24

ME-la, like Jovovic and Kunis

LightDrizzle · 29/05/2024 22:25

Mee-luh

Gymmum82 · 29/05/2024 22:27

I have a friend called Mila and she pronounces it Meela

TheCultureHusks · 29/05/2024 22:30

I don’t know any. I would look at the word and see My-la. But I’d ask how you say it.

I wouldn’t use this name, she’ll have a lifetime of corrections

SheilaFentiman · 29/05/2024 23:20

My-la

by parallel with Milo and Miles

but I would say Mee-la once told and think it perfectly reasonable, by parallel with Nina

RogueFemale · 30/05/2024 00:32

MILL-a

Agree with PP, a lifetime of correcting pronunciation and spelling will ensue.

SwordToFlamethrower · 30/05/2024 00:37

My-la

DramaAlpaca · 30/05/2024 00:41

MEE-luh.

Not like miller, definitely not.

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 30/05/2024 01:03

My-la
I would think ‘like Milo but with an a instead of an o’

ItsSconeNotScone · 30/05/2024 11:07

I would assume me-lah unless told otherwise ☺️

Fontainebleau007 · 30/05/2024 11:09

Me-La

wherethewaterisdarker · 30/05/2024 11:12

I would ask if it was Meela or Myla - neither is more intuitive to me.
