Hi all

I'm due a little girl in a few months and absolutely love the name Ella, but our surname begins with an L and when you say them together it kind of blurs into one.

I've been trying to think of other names we could call her but then use Ella as a nn, but I can only come up with Stella which I don't like.

Any ideas?

Other names we like to give you our sort of taste are; Sophia, Ada, Zara, Grace

We also have a little boy who has a short, top 10 name.

Elanor or a diff version but pronounced (el-ay-na) is nice
I also love the name Ada, if I ever have a little girl she will be Ada ☺️
There's also Eva which is beautiful.
Or just Eve ❤️

Some lovely suggestions - I think Elena / Eleanor / Eleanora or Elodie work best as they start with Ella sound, so Ella feels a natural short version.

The ones that have gone onto my list are;
Elodie
Elouise
Cora
Gabriella
Mia

I'm also not going to rule Ella out completely.... I do love it so much. Perhaps I could give her my surname instead 🤣

Ella is great. Then I think if she has a brother the name Salman goes well.

Scrumbleton · 08/05/2024 22:38

elouise ad elodie are stunning - so pretty but not out there. I went to school with a lovely Elouise - have never met an Elodie

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/05/2024 22:43

No disrespect to other posters but if Op has asked for alternatives to Ella because the Ls run into her Surname what’s the point in suggesting names Elodie and Eliza ect isn’t the L in those names going to cause the same issue.

Emma. Eve. Erin. Eden. Esme. Mya. Anna. Etta. Anya. Amy.

dancingqueen345 · 08/05/2024 22:50

@Awwlookatmybabyspider thank you, but I think because of the extra syllable in names like Elodie it does actually flow okay with the surname because the prevalent sound is the D rather than the L, if that makes sense!

Appreciate your reply though x
