Hi all,
Currently pregnant with baby number 2- sex is unknown and is being kept a surprise. We have our girl name picked out but struggling with a boy name. DS1 is called Roman. We have a short one syllable surname starting with H if that helps too!

Any suggestions much appreciated please, and any middle names to go with the first name!

TIA xxx

@Thorfire , nobody's criticising the name Roman. It's a very popular name right now.

no im pointing out that the baby name threads are very critical

@Thorfire , but I haven't seen any negativity about the name on this thread. I'm not being patronising.

It's a popular name so lots of parents must like it, but it's also an adjective so people will comment.

Els1e · 25/04/2024 20:51

Sorry if you don’t like my suggestion of Troy. I certainly did not mean anything by it. I like the name Troy. I like the name Roman too. I accept Troy is not the greatest hero in Thomas Hardy’s novel but I still like the name.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/04/2024 20:55

OP I'm with you. I have a relative, who would be over 100 now if he was still with us, called Roman. Pretending it's some modern invention is silly.

Umbongowasyuk · 25/04/2024 21:03

Maximus

FayCarew · 25/04/2024 21:07

I meant modern as in recently popular. I'd say the same about Arlo and that's not new either.
Roman Polanski must be in his 90s and he's the most well-known Roman I can think of and Roman Kemp is at least 30, so I was aware that they're not recently created names.

@Els1e , I know a couple of Troys. They are the same age as me. Seems an underused name and quite nice.

I know a Roman whose brother is Hugo.
I think you need something with 2 syllables.
