Boy names - brother for Roman

Biscuitsarelife1 · 25/04/2024 09:58

Hi all,
Currently pregnant with baby number 2- sex is unknown and is being kept a surprise. We have our girl name picked out but struggling with a boy name. DS1 is called Roman. We have a short one syllable surname starting with H if that helps too!

Any suggestions much appreciated please, and any middle names to go with the first name!

TIA xxx

Thank you very much to everyone who is making suggestions for boy names rather than trying to be clever and bash me for my current child's name choice- very much appreciated

Grayson, Xander, Jude,

FayCarew · 25/04/2024 12:15

I wasn't taking the piss @Biscuitsarelife1 . It's a name that fits in with the granddad-type names like Frank, Arthur and Stanley.
It has the history/archictecture theme to make it a bit in the same style as Roman.

I like Winston, but I guess you'll be offended at that too.

I find MN baby name thread horrible!
It seems a lot of the time ppl just post to say they hate a name choice even when it’s not asked.
a lot of MN suggestions seem to be traditional and not to my taste so I would never be critical as I appreciate everyone had different tastes and it’s only a name!

Roman is on our list 💓 it’s a lovely strong name. We have a vowel heavy surname so it would work well.

I also like Elijah, Eli, Isaac, or how about Atticus?
For girls we like Sienna, Imogen, I also like Aurelia and Saskia but my husband isn’t sure.

FayCarew · 25/04/2024 13:14

@Thorfire , nobody's criticising the name Roman. It's a very popular name right now.

Roman is a fab name. I know twins called Roman and Hunter.
What about Alexander, Xavier, Marcus, Asher, Cassius or Elio?

I know twins called Roman and Hunter too 😱

@Sweetleftfood if it was supposed to be a nasty joke it went straight over my head so absolutely no dramas here! Thank you for your response though. I definitely didn't want a traditional name either but nothing too out there! X

I have a Roman too op so I'm with you all the way. I also liked Jacob, Miles, Theo, Noah, Marcus, Rocco

Biscuitsarelife1 · 25/04/2024 13:38

I'm not 'offended' by the names you are suggesting. Individually yes the names you are suggesting are fine, there's nothing wrong with them. When you are suggesting names that are of a historical era (like Roman) to go alongside the name Roman you are clearly mocking my choice of name. I think Saxon is a great name but going alongside Roman seems like a mockery to me. The same with Norman alongside Roman- If I had said my child was called Charlie or George, you would not have suggested it. I haven't asked in the thread if you like my child's name and that wasn't what I was asking for, and I think the world would be a pretty boring place if we all called our children the same name. It's 2024, people are going to start using 'different' (tbh I don't really think Roman is that out there) names, no one's asking you to love them all but you don't need to openly voice that because it is just plain rude.

Ezra or Jude go well with Roman.
But my all time fave is Django but my partner is boring so wouldn't let me use it 😩

CuriousGeorge80 · 25/04/2024 13:53

Ezra is a good call, and Xander. Xavier, Theo, Arlo and Luca also come to mind.

People are suggesting names that you are offended by, Can you give an example of names that you like?

Goddessonahighway · 25/04/2024 14:06

Nathaniel. Nate for short.

Goddessonahighway · 25/04/2024 14:13

And has anyone suggested Max yet? I've never met a Max.

FayCarew · 25/04/2024 14:24

@Biscuitsarelife1 , but if you'd posted George or Charlie I'd have suggested Henry or Harry because George and Henry are both Royal Family names, Charlie and Harry are both diminutives of Royal names.

Other than history, I don't have a vibe for Roman. It seems modern and popular, so a modern, popular, non-traditional, not overly religious name.
The names don't have to be the same.
Roman and Sebastian are OK together but quite different.

How about Lando?

Springlysprung · 25/04/2024 14:28

I think it depends what route you are going down and the reasons behind Roman, we’ve a number of Roman’s in our family as half my family are Eastern European and it’s a v popular name there. We’ve also got in our family , Seb , Aleksander, Sasha, Peter , Micheal, David etc
