Middle name help

We have two sons already with one syllable middle names. Wanted to carry on the same theme for our daughter but really struggling to find one syllable middle names we like to go with Summer.

I have a couple one syllable middle names but more middle names that aren’t one syllable. Do you think it matters if we don’t carry on the theme with her?

These are the names we have so far, which one goes best?

  • Summer Belle
  • Summer Bleu
  • Summer Everly
  • Summer Aubrey
  • Summer Elodie
  • Summer Macy

I like Summer Elodie the best, followed by Summer Aubrey

Summer Bleu is awful, very ‘influencer’ vibes and Bleu just sounds like puke to me

Twoshoesnewshoes · 14/03/2024 11:49

Summer Belle is lovely
Sky
May
Rose
Tess
Lou
Blue
Wren

oldnorsesaga · 14/03/2024 11:55

Summer Fay
Summer Tess
Summer Ruth
Summer Elle
Summer Bess
Summer Fliss

From your list I like Summer Elodie the best.

BoohooWoohoo · 14/03/2024 11:55

Summer Belle sounds like a paint colour.
Bleu will be mistaken as Blue if you’re in the UK and Summer Blue sounds like a paint colour too. For the same reasons I think that you can’t have a flower name.

Elodie is the prettiest name out of the others imo

LittleMissSleepyUK · 14/03/2024 11:56

Summer Rose
Maud
Jess

MissyB1 · 14/03/2024 12:07

I don’t really like any of your favourites so far sorry.
How about
Summer Anne
Summer Fleur
Summer Hope
Summer Faye

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/03/2024 12:29

I don’t think it matters if you carry on the one syllable middle name theme.
If you did want to though, then I like -

Summer Niamh / Neve

From your choices, I like

Summer Everley
Summer Aubrey
Summer Macy

Summer Elodie - I hear Summer Melody!

Other ideas

Summer Eliza
Summer Olivia
Summer Lucia

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/03/2024 12:59

I like summer Elodie and don’t think it matters. You could try grace, maeve, Neve, pearl, Kate, Fae, joy?

KirstenBlest · 14/03/2024 13:22

Summer Belle - no, too close to Summer Ball
Summer Bleu - Bleu is awful
Summer Everly - I don't like Everly
Summer Aubrey - Boy's name
Summer Elodie - my single brain cell wants to hear this as Summer Holiday
Summer Macy - to many Ms

Theoldwoman · 14/03/2024 13:26

Summer Aubrey goes best.

DontGiveADuck · 14/03/2024 17:51

Every girl has the one syllable Rose/May/Grace as a middle name so tbh it would be refreshing if those weren’t used!

Not sure any of your suggestions flow though.

HoHoHoliday · 14/03/2024 17:56

It really doesn't matter about carrying on a "theme". I doubt your two older children would even consider that they have a theme to their names!
Summer Elodie is a great choice.

miniaturepixieonacid · 14/03/2024 22:27

I definitely don't think it matters about the theme. With a theme as broad as one syllable and a sample size of 2, it's barely a theme anyway - could easily just be a coincidence.

I don't know if Bleu is intentional or a typo for Blue but I actually quite like Summer Blue - it's sweet but also quite cool and quirky. I think a child and a creative/alternative adult would pull it off brilliantly. Perhaps not for a very conventional adult though, idk.

I knew a girl called Blue once who had a silbing called Summer Daisy which I also think is really sweet and cool. I'd like a name like that, even if it is a bit 'hippy dippy out there' (I am a bit of a middle aged hippy to be fair!)

I also like Summer Aubrey and Summer Elodie from your list.

Theme ideas:
Summer Raine (I know, I know, even more hippy than your ideas but I kind of love it!)
Summer Anne
Summer Kate
Summer Niamh
Summer Rose (cliche but goes!)

Non theme ideas:
Summer Alannah
Summer Cecelia
Summer Giselle
Summer Imogen
Summer Katrina
Summer Leonie
Summer Miranda
Summer Nicole
Summer Rhiannon
Summer Tamara
Summer Vanessa

I don't really like your current list, sorry... The names somehow don't seem that classy.

How about:
Summer Jeanne
Summer Jade
Summer Liv
Summer Gwen

If you were considered Summer Elodie, how about Summer Eloise?

MaloneMeadow · 14/03/2024 23:07

whentheywereuptheywereup · 14/03/2024 22:31

Summer Rae

God no.. not only does it mean female sheep (who would want to name their child after that?) it’s the new samey Rose/May/Grace middle name that every other little girl has. Awful

I think most of the people who have commented have a different name taste to me haha. Thanks for your responses but I don’t like any of the suggestions given 🙈 I don’t like common names, I like more unique names that you don’t hear all the time and this is what we’ve gone for with our current children, too. I know Summer is getting a bit more common now but my husband is set on it and I think it’s pretty.

I don’t want anything like May/Meadow/Willow/Raine nature themed to go with it as I think it would be too much with the name Summer, although these are the only names out of the bunch suggested that I do like.

Other names I like are:
Posy
Paisley
Emery
Bloom
Bo

Do any of those go better as a middle name?

OP posts:
Stickyricepudding · 19/03/2024 09:48

Summer Jean
Summer Joyce
Summer Pearl
Summer Grace
Summer Anne
Summer May

Stickyricepudding · 19/03/2024 09:52

Posy - common as muck around here, every other girl is called Posy in my area
Paisley = I associate it with Ian Paisley
Emery - emery board = nail file
Bloom - that is nature themed which you didn't want
Bo - isn't that just two letters thrown together

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/03/2024 10:31

Not many single syllables but my offerings:

Summer

Yvette
Leigh
Kellsey
Yasmin
Ruby
Scarlet
Kay
Briony
