Americans huh? What are they like?

Our local football magnate who is American took his kids to an Easter service and his pic is in the paper. His kids are called Brock (boy), MacCall, Avery and Quinn (all girls). These are not first names are they? And they all sound like boys? names to me too.

Oddly enough the dad is called (wait for it?) Andrew.

Where I come from, Brock means badger!

They use the boys name "Randy" as well!!

And I they call girls Rory. And Robin. And that's not even Hollywood or Footballer's wives fgs ..

Quinn is a first name but I thought it was traditionally a boy's name.

Yes Quinn as in the Mighty was certainly a boy.

Poor kids, and they are living in England now so set for some teasing at school.

I know. My son's name is Richie (Richard really) It was an alternative to Archie which I loved but thought it was too common.

This was MOCKED by Americans with children called Roycroft, Langston, Mackett, Hoyt, Tucker...

I know Brocks but it is a surname.

I have a nephew Brock in Florida. He is 18 months old and at first it seemed a tad......unusual. But having met him, it really suits, which I never would have said( and he's gorgeous)

dh wanted to call ds Brock because he looked like a little badger on the second scan!! i liked it - but didn't want him to be teased at school for it.

I've never met a Brock in real life but have heard of it. I've also heard Avery for a girl, but never met one in real life. To me Quinn is a boys name (have met many Quinns)

I like Avery - it's pretty. An American Mum at DS's school had an Ethan and and Avery. Liked both names.

It's a bit like two people named Victoria and David having thre boys and calling then Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. I mean God... oh wait... they are English.

My American children and I have very boring normal names indeed.

There was a girl on a US board considering Brogan recently. Brother Braiden. Eurghghghghghghghghghghghghghhghgh to Brogan. Sounds like Bogan!!

Imagine yelling out in the playground "Over here, Brick!" Or in later years "Darling Brick", or just "You're a brick, Brick"
