Recently found out we are expecting our third baby girl. Our two girls are called Alice and May.

We have a list but none we can really use!!

  • Emily
  • Isabel (we could use this)
  • Eve
  • Lucy (DH less a fan)
  • Lydia
  • Emma

Does anyone have any other name suggestions we might like?

@Kolie I always think Isobel/Isabel is very cutesie, a bit fussy and really quite popular.. As an abbreviation Izzy (and this would happen whether you like it or not) doesn’t go with the other names.

Something ending in an “a” would be nice. So Eliza or Emma. I think they both have the same simple, clean, classic feel as Alice and May.

(I also love Lauren but I know that’s not one you’ve mentioned.)

We have very similar taste OP - I love both your girls’ names and many of your suggestions (sadly DH disagrees with me on many of them!). Our DD is Matilda, though you may not want another M name.

I agree with PP that a floral name would be nice with those: Rose, Daisy, Flora would all be lovely.

Also, Charlotte would be nice with both of your girls’ names.

Such pretty names!
I feel like something short, not too quirky but something which was popular two or three generations ago would work very well.

Came on here to say Emma. Shame you can’t use it.

Flora is nice.

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 04/03/2024 19:25

My initial thought was Olivia.

Isobel is lovely though

GiselleRose · 04/03/2024 19:34

My first thought was Isabelle and it’s on your list (just with a different spelling).

Automatically I said … & Evie
so Eve or Evie is my vote!!!

I thought Lucy when I read the title without seeing your post so… Lucy!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/03/2024 19:41

Alice and May sound like simple, feminine, Victorian/Edwardian style classics to me. So Isabel would be a really similar style - and a shorter length but 3 syllable name would also sound great with her 1 & 2 syllable sisters names (I also love that Isabel starts/ends in a different letter to her sisters too).

If Isabel is a no go then other shorter/simpler names (no more than 6 letters) that I think fit into that Victorian classic style:

Rose (or Rosa)
Lily (or Lillian)
Louisa
Helena
Clara
Julia
Sarah
Ruth
Hannah

What do you think of Emilia/Lucia?

I think Anna is timeless and goes with the other names.

ElleLeopine · 04/03/2024 19:46

Alice, May, and Phoebe!

I initially thought Dorothy

Me too!
But my mum's sisters are Alice, May and Dorothy.
