Dh suggested it, I can't make up my mind if I like it or not.

I am not a fan sorry but it's definitely individual in the sense it's not over used.

Neverpostagain · 01/03/2024 10:38

I really like it, but alway wonder if the child might not live up to the virtue names.

Onelife2024 · 01/03/2024 11:01

I really like it, but it’s a 4 syllable name that doesn’t have a “grown up” formal short version, imo, which means that for work you’re stuck with either using the full name (which I would find a bit long and fussy for everyday use) or short versions that sound a bit informal for work (Fliss, Flick, Lissy etc)

Dontdeclutterthemagic · 01/03/2024 11:13

I like it, I know a few who are Liss, Flick and Fizz day to day.

Inexplicably, I like Felicity but really dislike Felix.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 01/03/2024 12:44

I like it,

BeretInParis · 01/03/2024 12:55

I love it. So feminine and with a lovely meaning too.

ShoesoftheWorld · 01/03/2024 13:09

Lovely name, great meaning. Interestingly, if you'd asked 5 years ago you would have got a few replies saying 'horsey/posh', but there don't seem to be any on this thread, which suggests it's lost that 'feel', prob with rising popularity.

MKWarrier · 01/03/2024 13:26

I love it, and love the meaning. It was on our list for DD2 but we have decided against it as we don’t like the short versions.

SunnieShine · 01/03/2024 13:28

Not keen. It sounds jarring to me.

DontGiveADuck · 01/03/2024 13:35

Love it.

maudelovesharold · 01/03/2024 10:20

For no explicable reason I also think it sounds prissy and smug!

Have to agree with this. I think it’s a nice name but it sends out a message that I would not want for my DD.

minimidge · 01/03/2024 14:08

I think it is a lovely name. Nick names can be nice too, and there is a wide range to choose from. Ellie, Lei, Lissy, Lis, Tiffy, Tif, Fizzy, and many more besides

KirstenBlest · 01/03/2024 14:15

It's a bit long. Fliss is ok, but I don't like Flick.

SoulMole · 01/03/2024 14:17

My best friend is Fliss. She likes being a Felicity.

It still has that feel for me unfortunately. I don’t know why and I’m sure if I met a young felicity that would change, but it just makes me wince a bit for some reason.

I love the name Felicity. My husband loved it too and wanted to use it when we found out we were having a girl. Unfortunately it does not sound nice in our local accent and I knew that would bug me and him, so we went with something else. But it really is a very pretty name and we loved the meaning very much.

Am I unreasonable to really want to know what your local accent is now ? 😂

Namiochangio2024 · 01/03/2024 14:29

I have one and am happy with the choice. She’s the only one we know, and the only one in her primary school (not that I was particularly bothered about being “unique”). We aren’t remotely horsey or posh and don’t live in that kind of area so that wasn’t a concern for me. She is just Felicity, doesn’t go by any of the standard nicknames as we (and now she, she’s old enough to make her own mind up) didn’t like them.

The only time I think it doesn’t sound very nice is in a broad Leeds type accent, when it sounds like “Felicit-eh” rather than the proper “ee” sound at the end.

We’ve always got a good reaction from people to her name, but I don’t suppose people tell you if they hate your child’s name so I guess that doesn’t mean much!

Words · 01/03/2024 14:38

Love it!

Re nicknames- I have a beautiful four syllable name which has many many options for nicknames/ shortening. I have always loved the full name so gently insist people use it. It's your choice what people call you, after all.

Samzzz · 01/03/2024 14:51

It’s nice but it’s too long and she’ll most likely never get called Felicity and will go by a nickname… probably Fliss

caramac04 · 01/03/2024 15:12

Love it. Unfortunately doesn’t go at all with my surname or I would have chosen it.

Lulu1919 · 01/03/2024 15:53

Love

Cinnamonandclove · 01/03/2024 16:00

I love it.

pontipinemum · 01/03/2024 16:04

Love it. I was in a 'group' with one at school. Her name wasn't shortened.

KohlaParasaurus · 01/03/2024 16:07

I really like Felicity. My mother put me off choosing it for my first daughter by saying it was "a cat's name" (I know, what?), and my XH wasn't keen. But if I'd had another daughter after my youngest I was going to have confidence in my own judgment and use it.

PickledScrump · 01/03/2024 18:32

I have a 3 month old felicity so I obviously love it. I do think it’s about to become quite popular though as I’ve seen it mentioned on here quite a lot since we had our baby
