Hate Hugo, it is so overused and not even a nice name. Every second kid seems to have that name. It's the name of an old man or a dog

I love Hugo but I do agree that the old man factor is off putting! Thanks

They sound bland. Try Tyrone?

They are both very very common in Calderdale so can't really be posh - every boy I meet is a Hugo, Luca, Jago or Seb these days.

Sandysandwich · 15/02/2024 15:54

Luca is nice,
Jack and Leo are lovely as well.
Personally I don't like the sounds in Hugo, I wouldn't call a baby Hugh and the 'go' sound doesn't improve it. Now I've said it to myself a few times I just hear an instruction "Hugh, go!"

I like these names 😂 what does Jago stand for? I don’t think they’re posh either tbh

I love Hugo. I like Luca but don't understand why so many British parents are suddenly using these Italian names like Luca, Rocco etc. I find it a bit odd. They don't use other Italian names like Antonio, Francesco, Giuseppe - but it seems like Brits have adopted a very select few Italian names as their own.
If you do have Italian heritage then go for it!

Remember that 'what's Hugo short for' thread?

Hugo's there?
Hugh gotta be kidding me?

Etc etc

Long name for Hugo? | Mumsnet

It's hysterically funny.

Not Luca if you’re not Italian.

I LOVE Leo, probably my favourite boy’s name. Felix also good.

Hugo is perfectly nice.
