There's a lot of Luca/Lukas in my nursery but I haven't met a Hugo.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 14/02/2024 07:48

If you don't have Italian heritage I'd go with Luke. Lovely name and underused.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 14/02/2024 08:03

He doesn’t need a name until he is here! Keep the top two in mind and decide once you have met him.

PeridotSparkle · 14/02/2024 13:44

Luca!

Sleepnplay · 14/02/2024 14:06

I prefer Luca of the two, although it does seem very popular at the moment, if that bothers you. I have a Lucas so my ear is tuned to hearing it, and it comes up a lot!

dutysuite · 14/02/2024 14:10

Luca - I don’t like Hugo as it reminds me of you go

Chatterboxy · 14/02/2024 14:29

Love Hugo!

SilverSimca · 14/02/2024 14:32

Luca I reckon. Or Lucas.

RestingPassportFace · 14/02/2024 14:34

Love Luca but always think of Suzanne Vega when not in ER Dr Luka mode
I like Hugo but many think it's upper-class twit name apparently

greendaisie · 14/02/2024 15:44

Luca or Lucas - timeless and classy

Hugo sounds like Hooray Henry/Rugby Toffee. Im not keen.

greendaisie · 14/02/2024 15:46

I think you need to be ‘we have a holiday home in the south of France’ level of posh

You mean rich? All you need is money to buy a home in the Cote D'Azur?!

I don't get what 'posh' means or has to do with anything Confused

FayCarew · 14/02/2024 16:45

Hugo. Neither of the names is 'posh'.

Yes tbh the posh comments don’t put me off. I think many names like Henry, Oscar etc were traditionally seen as middle class or posh but I would prefer a ‘posh’ name than a ‘chavvy’ name (hate that word sorry). Also ‘dog’ names are usually just trendy names at that time so that doesn’t put me off. Only issue with Hugo is although I love it, I’m not sure the actual sound is that nice and maybe I’m caught up in a trend!!

Hugo 😊

I always think names such as Luca,Nico, etc, are odd choices without the assumed parental heritage. Apologies if this doesn't apply to you OP.

Hugo is nicer in any case.

Yes I totally get this, to clarify, we aren’t Italian! I have heard Luca used a good few times though to parents who aren’t Italian & we don’t have a super British surname so it doesn’t bother me too much x
