Found out we're having another girl. Name meanings are important to me. My daughter's name has a lovely meaning and would love the sibling to also have positive connotations.

Names we're considering are:

Harriet
Lucinda
Beatrice/Beatrix

Middle names:
Delilah
Pearl
Or a combo of the ones we like for first names

My daughter's name is Annabel.
What do you think of our choices, any others to suggest?

P.s Charlotte and Felicity are no go as we have people close to us with those names.
TIA

Gorgeous names and I love Annabel.
I think Lucinda Pearl is lovely.

Annabel and ..
Lucinda Beatrix
Harriet Lila
Beatrix Lucy

Onelife2024 · 10/02/2024 15:05

Harriet is my favourite, I’ve always loved that name and it’s beautiful for all ages. I think it goes really well with Annabel. Harriet Lucinda sounds lovely.

Lucinda is my second favourite and she can be Lucy for short if she likes when she’s older.

Beatrice is my least favourite because I find it harder to imagine wanting to be called it as an adult, and Bea is a bit informal to use all the time at work etc… Just my personal feelings though.

Other ideas -

Imogen
Helena
Georgia
Hazel
Penelope
Miriam
Louisa
Evelyn
Eloise
Martha
Mabel
Vivienne
Clara

Love all your first names. Delilah isn't a name with positive associations for me though (Samson and Delilah).
I'd pick Beatrix Pearl.

CJ4713 · 10/02/2024 15:36

My favourites would be:
Harriet Pearl
Lucinda Pearl

I'm always confused how Beatrice/Beatrix is pronounced and just don't like the name.
I don't like Delilah at all though.

MKWarrier · 10/02/2024 15:39

I love Harriet but sadly DH isn’t a fan. Harriet Pearl is lovely. I agree with PP that Delilah doesn’t have positive associations.

I’m biased, but Matilda means strong, which I think is good for a girl in the modern world. It would go nicely with Annabel too.

Delilah is something my daughter has chosen for us to consider which is why it doesn't fit the name meaning criteria.

Beatrice Pearl - lovely!

FayCarew · 10/02/2024 20:46

A sibling should not have a say in naming a baby.
It's not fair because the baby had no say in the sibling's name.

Harriet - like it, it's great. Also like Hattie
Lucinda - much prefer Lucy
Beatrice/Beatrix - prefer Beatrice, not keen on Beatrix

Middle names:
Delilah - dreadful
Pearl - like the meaning, not keen on the sound

Beatrice!! My absolute favourite name ever - such a beautiful and elegant timeless classic. Lovely nickname potential too

I love Beatrice Harriet, it works really nicely in my opinion

How about:
Beatrice Isabel
Beatrice Maeve
Beatrice Eliza

OopsieeDaisy · 10/02/2024 21:58

I love Annabel, Harriet is also lovely and then go well together. I would got for Harriet Pearl, although I do like Delilah but not sure it goes as well after Harriet.

theduchessofspork · 10/02/2024 22:06

Harriet
Lucinda
Beatrice/Beatrix

Annabel and Harriet Beatrice

I like Lucinda but she’ll be called Lucy day to day which is a bit overdone right now, and Beatrice has been overused.

I think Pearl and Delilah are both a bit daft

Edelq · 10/02/2024 23:49

Annabel & Ethel 💕

Cuckoochanel80 · 10/02/2024 23:50

Wow love Lucinda

Justme2023123 · 10/02/2024 23:52

Delilah Pearl, just to buck the trend. I've known Delilah to be shortened to Dilly or Lilah.

peaceinourtime · 17/02/2024 14:35

Harriet 100 percent

Nocoffeenotalkie · 02/03/2024 12:51

So, we have agreed on Lucinda but cannot settle on a middle name.

I feel like it should be no more than 1 or 2 syllables and flow nicely. I would like a positive meaning too.
Any ideas?
TIA
