Middle name for our boy that goes with the first name we picked!

I think we’ve decided on River for our little boy but we’re stuck for a middle name. My other half wants Maddox but I don’t think River Maddox flows very well 🤔 what do you reckon?

I was thinking something more traditional like James to counteract the fact River is not traditional at all…but she said absoutely not.

Any ideas?

I gave my last two sons names that were a little less common at the time (they are in their 30s) but have become quite popular now🙄i made sure they had a more mainstream name for their middle name in case they didn't like it as they got older. Seems sensible to go that way really (although neither have changed to their middle names).

I think River Maddox or River James are both nice, depending how contemporary you want the middle name. Some other ideas that I think sound good with River -

River is lovely. I know an amazing Ocean. She suits her name beautifully. I also know a Brook and i loge his name as well.

I like alliteration so would properly do another R name.

Are you ever going to say both your child's names together? If not, it doesn't matter whether they flow.
Personally I don't love Maddox as a name but if you do then why not use it? James is lovely. I like Alexander too.

They all work together so I'd go for River Maddox James.
I don't like the alliterative R names... they sound like actual rivers to me.
