We are a long way off having to decide but talking about it all the time!

The names me and DH both like are

Rosie
Sadie
Connie
Erin
Zara
Eva
Eloise
Nina
Anya/Anna

Surname ends in ‘na’ sound so that’s what makes me think twice about Nina and Anna, much as I love them I’m not sure if it’s too repetitive. I do have a preference for names ending in the ‘A’ sound though and don’t know if the ‘ee’ sound is too cutesy.

One syllable uncommon family middle name.

Just be interested to see which you like, or don’t like and why!

I like Nina, but if you can't use it, then Zara

They’re all quite nice names, OP. I like Connie, Sadie and Nina most.

Depends on the surname. Is it something like MacKenna, or more like Cantona or Katona? Anna/Nina might be a bit singsongy with MacKenna.

Like: Anna, Nina, Connie if short for Constance
OK: Rosie, Sadie, Zara - Rosie a bit twee, know loads of Zaras
Not keen: Erin, Eva, Eloise. Eloise is too much of a mouthful and might end up being Ellie. Eva and Erin a bit plain

I love your shortlist! All are lovely names! So hard to choose!

My favourites are (in order of preference) -

Anna - timeless, pretty, great for all ages, one of my favourite names
Eva - another gorgeous fairly classic name that works for all ages - lots of Evie’s around but Eva is a nice variation that I prefer and isn’t quite so overused
Rosie - I’ve always loved this name, I used to think it was a bit cutesie for an adult but I know a few adult Rosie’s now and I think it works well for adults too
Eloise - I love this name, another pretty classic. The only downside is the huge number of Ellie’s everywhere at the moment, if that bothers you
Erin - a lovely name
Sadie - I think this is a great name - not overused but nice for all ages
Nina - another lovely simple but pretty name, not overused
Zara - I really like this too, it’s only disadvantage is it makes me think of the clothes shop! Not a major drawback though!
Anya - Another nice choice, not overused. It’s only next to last because it’s a bit less to my taste and I’m not sure why!
Connie - too cutesie for my taste

Sorry, I managed to lose Anya. It's OK but I prefer just Ann or Annie. then Anna. Anya seems weaker somehow.

Eloise is lovely.

Thank you all, I have a soft spot for Sadie and Rosie but don’t know if they are too nickname-y. Don’t like any of the full names for Rosie though.

Do love Nina but somebody said it sounds like an emergency services vehicle on another thread 😂

@ddddora , they are both fine as standalone names. Sadie Frost, Rosie Huntington-thingy etc

Also, have a look at the top 100 names - there are plenty of names like Alfie, Ellie, Archie, Teddy, Freddie, Evie, Maisie, Elsie etc

I don’t think Rosie and Sadie are too nicknamey at all! I’m not a fan of cutesie nicknames but I think both of these names sound great as full names for adults as well as children. Great choices!

I like them all apart from Eloise. Favourites are Nina, Anna, Rosie, Zara and Eva.

If you like names ending in A and want a long form of Rosie, I know a girl called Rosella.

I think Erin, Sadie and Nina are the top 3 contenders.

Erin: love how simple yet well-known it is. Worried it’s not feminine enough, as it sounds like Eren and Aaron which are male names!

Sadie: love it. Somebody said it sounds like sadist, though, which is offputting! I just rarely hear of this name and think it sounds punchy but also feminine.

Nina: love it for the sake of it being uncommon among little ones and universal in its spelling and pronunciation. Not sure if it’s a bit bolder and braver than the other two as it’s less heard of.

I think Erin is my favourite, I would be very happy to be called this, it sounds feminine to me without being at all frilly or fussy.

Nina would be my second choice - another gorgeous name - I’d go for this if it’s important to you to choose a less commonly used name.

Sadie - I also really like this. My only two very minor issues are that I know someone called Sadie and she gets a surprisingly number of people calling her Daisy! And the sadist thing. But neither are a big deal.

Sadie. It works through all ages, I don’t think it’s cutesy at all. It’s soft but without being frilly. Underused but not unfamiliar.

Erin and Eloise would be my choices. Even using both, Erin Eloise Surname.

I like quite a few on your list, I agree with what your saying with the repetitive letters though.
I had it before I was married and I hated it. Except mine was ley at the end of first and last name. I couldn't wait to take husbands last name and would not revert back even if we ended up divorced.
My first name is a 9 letter one too and I don't like the nicknamed version of it either with my maiden name. as it kinda sounds like I'm spelling my first name wrong.

I really love Sadie,Nina and Rosie. I’d not have thought about emergency vehicle sound!
