Hi everyone, I am expecting a baby girl and have narrowed my name list down to 2 names which I love equally! Please help me decide!

Winslow nn Winnie
Cecelia nn Cece

At this point I’m wishing it was twins just so I can use both! How do I decide?!

Pick ... Cecelia - also known as CeCe. Beautiful.

Winslow is awful. Sorry @21redroses

GremlinDolphin4 · 07/01/2024 20:36

Winslow is awful! My mind instantly goes to Onslow or Wilmslow. Winnie is not a good nickname either, Winnie the Pooh, old ladies etc come to mind!

Cecilia is beautiful (and my middle name!) she’s the patron saint of music. Ceci/Cece is a sweet nickname too.

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2024 20:39

Winslow? Dear God, no. And I can't bear Winnie.

Cecilia is pretty - that's the usual (and nicer, IMO) spelling. You could still use Cece as the diminutive.

LikeagoddamnVampire · 07/01/2024 22:42

Winslow is awful anyway, and absolutely sodding awful for a girl. Horrible. Makes me think of a commuter town like Slough. The sofa analogy is spot on - in fact I think I saw a range of carpets named Winslow recently.

Cecilia needs to be spelt correctly or she will have a lifetime of saying "my mum wanted it to be yoooonique"

BeaLola · 07/01/2024 22:50

Cecelia is my favourite

Winslow makes me think of a boy at boarding school being summoned by a teacher "Winslow"and not overly in love with Winnie

CoddledAsAMommet · 07/01/2024 22:54

If you like Winnie, could it be short for Winsome? Lovely meaning too.

If Cecilia, spell it this way which is much prettier (and correct!)

littlemousebigcheese · 07/01/2024 22:58

Winnie is awful - as others have said Winnie the Pooh or whinny like a horse. I like Winifred but would call a girl Fred like in angel!

Cecilia isn't nice to say but cece is the best of your choices.

Newsenmum · 07/01/2024 22:59

I much prefer Cecilia but you obviously love both. Wait until she’s born.

2024BigWhoop · 07/01/2024 23:12

Cecilia is lovely - very pretty and not a name commonly heard. As previous posters have said, please spell it correctly though.

When I see it spelt Cecelia I just see “Coeliac” for some reason. Or “cillia” or “caecum” - just far too many words related to biology and health 😂

But Winslow????? That’s a hell no! 😬😬

Definitely go for Cecilia and I really like CeCe (pronounced see-see) as a nickname too.

Congratulations on your upcoming daughter!

UsingChangeofName · 07/01/2024 23:14

I mean Cecelia wouldn't make my top 10, but it is okay and it, at least, a name.

Winslow ??? Hmm

I wouldn't call a child anything that naturally shortened to Winnie either, with the clear invitation to be called Poo(h) all their life.

NannyR · 07/01/2024 23:16

Cecelia, although I think it looks better spelt with two i's Cecilias.

marshmallowfinder · 07/01/2024 23:29

Winslow is absolutely awful. Winnie is very frumpy too. Not so keen on Cecelia, but 100% better than Winslow!

ODFOx · 08/01/2024 00:53

Cecelia

Please don't name your daughter Winslow. Winnie /Winona/Winnifred all fine.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 08/01/2024 00:56

Cecelia is a lovely name. Not a fan of Winslow.

Babla · 08/01/2024 01:23

Do not call your baby Winslow!
Or Winnie

abcdefghijkI · 08/01/2024 01:27

Cecilia (spelled like this)

Pemba · 08/01/2024 02:01

Winslow is the name of a place, not a human. Why would you like it for your baby?? Winifred is at least a name, though horrendous. Winter is not bad, don't mind that.

Cecilia spelled like that is really nice. I think of the Simon and Garfunkel song. I would pick that. Or Cecily is a pretty alternative.

Theoldwoman · 08/01/2024 02:03

Cecilia. But prefer Celia.

Beeswood · 08/01/2024 02:30

Cecilia or Celia.

Winslow sounds like a boy's name, I looked up the meaning it is friend's hill or burial ground!
