Hi!

We have a shortlist for our DD2 due soon:

  • Sabrina
  • Anne-Marie
  • Sienna

Which one is your favourite? :)

Very simple one syllable family name, I'm French my DH is English.

Thanks!

Sabrina

riotlady · 21/12/2023 12:23

Love Sabrina

Grilly · 21/12/2023 12:24

Is Marianne an option? Otherwise Anne-Marie.

Lorelei89 · 21/12/2023 12:26

@Grilly Marianne great name but not an option, thanks!

Anne Marie

Kyogo67 · 21/12/2023 12:31

Sabrina is lovely

I also like Serena

BigBouncyBaubles · 21/12/2023 12:34

I love Sabrina. Love the Audrey Hepburn film of the same name.

Sienna is nice but has been pretty popular for the past decade or so so doesn't have much impact.

Anne-Marie is inoffensive but quite blah. Very 1970s.

Stresa22 · 21/12/2023 12:35

Is Sabina an option?

OccasionalHope · 21/12/2023 12:38

Sabrina. I second the suggestion of Sabina though.

Theoldwoman · 21/12/2023 12:39

Sabrina!

TheChristmasElfCanGoNow · 21/12/2023 12:45

Honestly, I'd keep looking. Not a fan of any of these. Sienna is probably the least "not my taste"but I'm sure there are plenty of nicer choices still available. Sorry to be harsh.

KateJW95 · 21/12/2023 13:32

I like Sienna best.

Anne-Marie is a classic French name, but I think it's a bit boring.

Here are some suggestions:

Amelie
Léa
Océane
Serena
Camille
Marianne
Floriane (Flo)

Doublebiscuit77 · 21/12/2023 13:34

I like Anne-Marie. Sabrina just makes me think Teenage Witch or River Severn, and I don't love the sound, not sure why. I don't much like Sabina/Selina/Serena either.

Sienna is nice but was very popular in the last decade, is slightly past its peak.

But Anne-Marie is really unusual these days and very pretty!

MsSantahasanicecuppateaandGingerbreadSantaCookie · 21/12/2023 13:34

Sabrina is beautiful!

Housenoob · 21/12/2023 13:39

I used to love Sienna so so much but it's just so common now.

Anne-Marie is very old lady, I prefer Anna-Maria but still don't love it.

Sabrina is lovely, a tad 90's but in a good way. I also like Serena a lot.

WaltzingWaters · 21/12/2023 13:44

Sienna by a long shot. Lovely although quite popular at the moment.
Sabrina second choice although not a fan.
Don’t like Anne-Marie at all. Sounds so frumpy and old lady, but not in a good way.
Are there any other French names you like? I’m sure there would be some lovely French names that aren’t very popular in the UK.

MaryActsLikeSheDontCare · 21/12/2023 13:51

I don’t like Anne-Marie or Sabrina, at all.

Sienna is nice but it’s too popular and trendy, I think it will date terribly.

What about Anna or Anna-Maria?
Vivienne

Userxyd · 21/12/2023 14:08

Anne Marie is nice but 70s/people in their 50s/too naff for kids now
Sienna is nice but seems like 25% of girls are now called that
Sabrina growing on me and 90s connotations will wear off.

Otherwise I love these classic names that have gone out of circulation lately:
Sophie
Louise
Charlotte
Juliet/tte
Caroline

Marcipex · 21/12/2023 14:09

Sabrina makes me think of sabres.
Anne-Marie is okay but very dated.
Sienna is a trend that has been and gone here.

I like Madeleine and Pascale.

Kaamos · 21/12/2023 14:17

Sabrina

Gnomegnomegnome · 21/12/2023 14:20

Not a fan of any of them (sorry).

SkaneTos · 21/12/2023 14:25

I think they are all lovely, but Anne-Marie is a very different style from Sabrina and Sienna!

My favourite of those names is Anne-Marie.

Surprisenewtcatcher · 21/12/2023 15:01

Sabrina

KirstenBlest · 21/12/2023 16:35

Of the three, Sabrina
Sabrina's quite a strong name. Sabine seems gentler
Anne-Marie seems dated
Sienna seems a bit downmarket

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 21/12/2023 16:37

I like Sienna the best. I’m not a fan of double barrelled names and Sabrina makes me think of Sabrina the teenage witch
