Peter?

DH and I struggling to agree on a baby name. DH likes Peter and it has family connections to both of us. We both like traditional names but I’m worried it’s not a ‘baby’ name (I know he won’t be a baby forever!), thoughts?

Peter's a good solid name and a refreshing change from the names of moment Theo, Alfie, Noah et al

CurlewKate · 08/12/2023 04:26

Not being a "baby" name is a GOOD thing! I wish more people would realise they're naming adults.....

Rabiz · 08/12/2023 04:28

I like it.

WhyMeWhyNowWhyNot · 08/12/2023 04:29

My dad’s name - and he was the best.

use it 🥰

Einevinefine · 08/12/2023 04:40

Love it.
Timeless, classic name.

Peter is a handsome name.
Peter Rabbit baby clothing is pretty cute too.

PickledScrump · 08/12/2023 19:05

Nothing wrong with it as long as your surname isn’t file. Peter Rabbit is popular again now so I don’t think it’ll seem all that unusual.

Wotwotwotwotwot · 08/12/2023 19:06

It's lovely

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/12/2023 19:20

I've never met a Peter I didn't like.

Roselilly36 · 08/12/2023 19:24

I have always loved the name Peter, a good choice, especially if as it has a family connection for you. Many congratulations btw.

BoleynMemories13 · 08/12/2023 20:11

Peter is an underused (these days) classic. Handsome, strong. All young children will be familiar with Peter Rabbit so won't think it dated at all. It's only us adults who think like that. To young children, all names of children they know are 'normal' names.

I'd put Peter in the same category as James and Thomas, which are both still popular.

Peter is definitely due a comeback.

Justnoidea · 08/12/2023 20:19

Love it!

UsingChangeofName · 08/12/2023 21:09

Love it.
Nothing about it not to like.

muddyford · 08/12/2023 21:17

Love it. One of my favourite names.

IReallyLikeYouButIWantToSeeHowThingsGoWithMark · 08/12/2023 21:24

My BFF's 12 year old is Peter. I LOVE it! I was Hmm at first because it seemed so dull but it rapidly grew on me. She named her Peter after her FIL. As she said he is always the only one in his class- barring the teachers!

Her Peter is gorgeous. Kind, sweet and sensitive. So that is what I envision now with the name.

It's cute on a baby and suits all ages over that IMO.

RhubarbAndMustard · 08/12/2023 21:26

Love it and is my sons middle name

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 08/12/2023 22:08

Not one of my favourites but a perfectly good, solid, neutral name as far as I'm concerned.

ApricotLime · 08/12/2023 22:10

I like it. Dd has a 16 year old one in her year.

NotInvolved · 08/12/2023 22:17

My DS is called Peter so obviously I am biased but I think it's a great name.
He is a teenager now and I can only recall ever meeting one other boy with the same name. I like that it is an "ordinary", classic type name but currently fairly uncommon.

Nineteendays · 08/12/2023 22:32

My dd age 8 has a friend named Peter. He is not (currently) a Pete. I think it’s a cute name. I’d defo do a Peter rabbit themed room!

Prettyinred · 08/12/2023 23:27

I must be the only one who thinks it’s awful

trader21c · 09/12/2023 06:03

Peter is a great name what a lovely choice!

PieAndLattes · 09/12/2023 06:09

It’s a great name - Peter, Paul, James, Robert, Stephen are all strong, classic, class free, names that will take you anywhere.

YourWinter · 09/12/2023 08:58

Yes, I love the name, and it suits all ages.

StopWithYourNonsense · 09/12/2023 09:23

EssAyyBee · 07/12/2023 23:46

I naturally do not pronouce the T in Peter. May be an area thing but I cant think of anyone I know that would either.

😂Do you also say wa-er for water and bo-lle for bottle?
