Thoughts on Vivienne?

What do you think of the name Vivienne? Any negative associations I should know about?

Not a fan at all. But we had an Aunty Viv in the family so to me it’s an old name.

My SIL gets Viv. Horrible.

It’s a name I feel I should like, but I just can’t warm to. It feels dated to me (the only time it’s been in the top hundred in England and Wales is the 40s) and is inexorably linked with Viv, which is deeply unpleasant. I love Vivi - but Vita is a brighter, fresher way to get there.

Prefer Vivien. Is Vivienne Viv-yen or Vivvy N? Not keen on Viv.

I like it. I also like the nicknames V, Viv and Vivi.

The Young Ones and Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince spring to mind when I hear the name. Neither are bad associations for me.

I have a 2 year old granddaughter Vivienne. It's a gorgeous name.

I think you are much more likely to get Vee Vivi or Vita as a nn these days, so I wouldn’t worry too much about Viv (which I don’t mind anyway)

The Pretty Woman character was Vivian. A boy's name in the UK.

By the time a baby Vivienne goes to school I highly doubt a single child there would have heard of The Young Ones, or Pretty Woman. Viv Nicholson who won the Pools in the 1970s? Clutching at straws with that one.

I love it, it reminds me of the actress Vivienne Leigh, and I prefer that spelling, much prettier.

How about Viviane, after the fabulous Viv Albertine? Has anyone mentioned Viv Richards yet? He was a cricketing legend.

Love it. No. 1 girls name for me but dh is hard no so I don’t think we’ll use it if we have a girl!
