I am a big fan of Loola for a girl but wanted to get some opinions as I'm not sure if it may sound a bit too froofy.

In Ireland. Loo la means mad and not in a fun way.

I came on to say this too

fancyfrogs · 26/10/2023 20:40

😂😂 bloody hell absolutely not

goldennavy · 26/10/2023 20:48

Lula is lovely
Short for Talullah

WotNoUserName · 26/10/2023 20:49

My youngest DS had a Loola pushchair when he was a baby. That was my first thought when I saw the name.

satellitesunshine · 26/10/2023 20:52

😂 no

rockinginarockingchair · 26/10/2023 20:54

Its your child name it what you want.
I can think of many names parents have named the kids that are alot worse.
Ive heard Atmosphere /whisky /stony /blue/ coco/peach/ amazon /frilly/america/ and a set of twins called pacific and ocean. now loola.

WaltzingWaters · 26/10/2023 20:55

Dear god please no!

If you want that name spell it Lula. Loola just screams toilet. And yes, froofy.

Lua is nice.

therealcookiemonster · 26/10/2023 21:00

After reading this sort of threads I understand why in certain countries they have legislature around what names are acceptable

adriftinadenofvipers · 26/10/2023 21:01

God no!!

AutumnIsMyFriend · 26/10/2023 21:01

Awful, sorry

Forgotmylogindetails · 26/10/2023 21:02

Might as well call her toileta.

RoseMartha · 26/10/2023 22:13

I dont think that is a good spelling

Lula would be better, sounds a bit of a pet name, I mean in context of an actual pet like a rabbit or dog etc, not in the context of a nick name.

Or
Lola
Lyra
Lucy
Lana
Lois

Topseyt123 · 26/10/2023 22:28

No. It absolutely screams TOILET. Imagine how that could affect your child in the school playground.

YourWinter · 26/10/2023 22:31

I know a dog named Tallulah who is referred to as Lula. Not Loola, why would you be so cruel to a child?

Whattheflipflap · 26/10/2023 22:33

Loula- nicknamed from Louisa
Lula- From Talulah

there was a maxi cosi travel system called Loola back in the day, and it’s also what some people called vaginas when I worked in a scabby weatherspoons

AliceMcK · 26/10/2023 22:39

Do you mean Lola as in The Kinks song Lola? Which I think is a song about a man who encounters a transvestite prostitute.

A quick google shows it’s a Spanish name, which if you have Spanish origin I thinks fine as you have meaning behind it. Otherwise I think the name will be associated with the song or other derogatory meanings.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 26/10/2023 22:45

You are naming a person. Not a toilet.

RaininSummer · 26/10/2023 22:52

Loola is shocking. Lula is feisty as a name but also a character who is murdered in the the first Strike book.

s3tut0y3r · 26/10/2023 23:01

What about Tallulah?

determinedtomakethiswork · 26/10/2023 23:02

Monkeytapper · 26/10/2023 20:29

How about Luba…like Luba from Strictly?

Lube for short?

ladygindiva · 26/10/2023 23:22

PosyPrettyToes · 26/10/2023 20:21

Have you considered Ballonz....?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 27/10/2023 07:25

I am familiar with the nickname Lou-La for Louise/a.

But Loola as the actual given name / on the bc? I am not feeling that one tbh.

Louisa, Lola, Louella, Lucy, Luciana, Luana, Louane / Lou-Anne

I think they got exactly the response they were hoping for Grin

FarEast · 27/10/2023 08:49

Why not give your poor daughter a proper name (Lucinda, Louise?) and use “Lula” as a nickname.

“Loola” is awful.
