Are my pregnant hormones making me insane? Is Enid cute but strong?

OP posts:

I had an Anti Enid and I know a young Enid now -both pronounced the Welsh way. I think its a lovely name.

Notlaughingalot · 05/10/2023 22:10

Sorry but it's a no from me. It's too granny ish.

DramaAlpaca · 05/10/2023 22:14

Yes it's a strong name, but cute? Not at all. But that's fine by me as 'cute' isn't an attribute I want in a name.

Rosiee29 · 05/10/2023 22:16

I like it but depends on your last name

NotKeanuReeves · 05/10/2023 22:23

A friend has an Enid, she’s a beautiful little girl so it makes the name beautiful too to me.

DinnaeFashYersel · 05/10/2023 22:24

Lovely

Torganer · 05/10/2023 22:27

Maybe the other posters don’t have toddler that loves ‘Hey Duggee’, but Enid the cat is a firm favourite around here!! Pronounced ‘ee-nid’ in the show.

bellsandwhistles333 · 05/10/2023 22:31

I like it! My friend has babes her little girl Edith and it's grown lovely with her

Catlover1705 · 05/10/2023 22:31

It's nice, slightly prefer Edith.

Santiagopink · 05/10/2023 22:46

The red arrows formation of 5 planes is called Enid. Just an alternative association to Blyton....
I like it. Also like Edith and Esther for granny chic

Jeelypieces20storeys · 05/10/2023 23:19

Would you want to be called Enid? Seriously?

Bluecocoon · 05/10/2023 23:22

I don’t think it sounds nice at all

RobertaFirmino · 06/10/2023 00:22

It's bloody awful. Can't believe someone has described it as 'gorgeous'!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 06/10/2023 00:30

I think it’s lovely.

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 06/10/2023 07:16

I have a 2.5yo Enid, I (obviously) think it's beautiful and we get loads of compliments on it. I'm sure we also encounter lots of people who think it's harsh, granny, ugly etc but luckily they don't say that. She adores her name.

If you're ok with a polarising name then go for it.

Oh, and I'd love to be called Enid! Names I'd hate to be called are things like Arabella, Olivia, Lily, etc. Luckily we're all different.

If I met a young Enid I imagine my opinion on it might change. And I do agree it’s much better than some of the current top names Lily, Amelia, Olivia etc which are just so dull now.

peaceinourtime · 06/10/2023 09:56

Enid’s a beautiful name, go for it OP

theduchessofspork · 06/10/2023 12:29

I know a little Enid - I think it’s probably the new Edith so I’d go for it (before it gets too popular..)

15 years ago everyone would have said that about Edith, and now there are billions of them

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/10/2023 12:31

I love Enid. It was our back up choice for dd2 5 years ago. There was actually one a few years younger at her nursery as well

KirstenBlest · 06/10/2023 12:40

It's an old Welsh name and pronounced ENN-id. I's lovely.
The anglicised version, Ee-nid, isn't lovely at all.

Longdarkcloud · 06/10/2023 21:48

I like it and think the trends show it is making a come back.
Its funny that people on here find it sounds ugly when recently Agatha and Agnes have both been praised. I find both these names very ugly.
Ena is too reminiscent of Ena Sharples.
Enid gives you a playful rhyme Eny, meany, miney mo, catch a fairy by his toe, if he hollows let him go, eny meany miney mo

bleuclair · 06/10/2023 21:50

Lovely name.

wellandtruly · 07/10/2023 11:16

I really like the Welsh pronunciation. Thee English one has a different vibe.

I don’t mind the Welsh pronunciation but prefer the English - like Edith
