I love Clover.
Madeleine Clover
Ella Clover
Louise Clover
Felicity Clover
Odette Clover
Alice Clover
Veronica Clover
Nerissa Clover
Sibyl Clover
Tabitha Clover
Linnea Clover
Violet Clover
Beatrice Clover

I also think it would be cute and daring first name.

At the risk of sounding dismissive, anything goes with anything as the middle name is rarely used. So choose Clover if you want. I spent ages thinking of middle names for it not to matter if that makes sense.

bulbarsaurus · 02/10/2023 13:53

Four leaf? 😂

direbollockal · 02/10/2023 13:54

Daisy

Or Katy and Elsie.

Ok in the nicest way possible, in case no one is willing to tell you this is real life.. you might just be able to get away with Clover as a middle name, but not as a first name. It might be quite sweet for a baby, but that baby will grow up. Imagine introducing yourself at the age of 40 as Clover - it’ll make her sound like a cow!

Clover is a lovely name. You obviously didn’t have the joy of reading What Katy Did and sequels, or you wouldn’t be spouting such nonsense.

Unfortunately I have to agree OP it does sound lovely but as a first name it will probably get shortened anyway - likely to Clo or Clove which makes me think of garlic Clove.

Reminds me of the song -

I work with a Clover and she must be mid 40s. I think it's fab.

Cheesemas · 02/10/2023 14:09

Flora!

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 02/10/2023 14:12

I love Clover, and Clo as a shortening is fine - a lot of Chloes end up as Clo!

But I'm also a What Katy Did fan!

bulbarsaurus · 02/10/2023 14:13

Cheesemas · 02/10/2023 14:09

Flora!

I was going to recommend Flora! It's still very nature themed. I also like Lily and Ivy too!

TheBirdintheCave · 02/10/2023 14:14

I also love Clover because of What Katy Did.

caringcarer · 02/10/2023 14:25

It might be possible as a middle name but poor DC having that as a first name. Clover is a weed gardener's spend time and money trying to get rid of. Might as well call DC Dandelion.

I couldn't go for sage or magnolia. Sage sounds quite masculine but it also reminds me of sage and onion stuffing. Magnolia is something that reminds me of toilet fragrances. When picking a child's name I always try to picture myself shouting it when they are about to cross a road with a car coming. 'MAGNOLIA' is making me chuckle 😂

Do think carefully about the cow connotations. There's a reason the margarine is called Clover.

Tell that to the hugely successful, 40 something author,
Clover Stroud.

It’s a lovely name OP.

miniaturepixieonacid · 02/10/2023 16:29

I think it's really cute and pretty. The only reason I would think 'cow' rather than 'What Katy Did' is if there was a sibling called Daisy, Molly, Rosie, Bella, Flora etc (or in fact Katie, though Susan Coolidge got away with it just fine!). All pretty names on their own but make a set of them and they become a bit bovine!

I agree that first and middle names matching isn't important as people rarely say both names but how about:

Abigail Clover
Autumn Clover
Genevieve Clover

Clover Elise
Clover Jane
Clover Diane

SunnyFog · 02/10/2023 17:19

Didn’t this come up recently because a poster thought it was an Irish name? Took me weeks to realise they meant shamrock…
I prefer Yarrow for some reason. Or Camille.

PermanentTemporary · 02/10/2023 17:25

I absolutely love Clover, both for the What Katy Did reference and for the beauty of red clover in the fields when I'm walking. And it's just a pretty sound too.

I would go for a less nature based second name tbh, and would steer clear of any rhyming vowel sounds. Is there a possible family name, or a surname to add?

Otherwise -
Clover Maxine
Clover Faith
Clover Mary
Clover Bridget
Clover Elsie or Clover Katy?? Too much?

Please don’t name your child Flora Clover, they are both brands of butter spread

Mrburnshound · 02/10/2023 18:43

Oh i LOVE LOVE CLover, my non existent DD2 would be this. I also loved WKD, I always liked Clover better than Katy!
