Baby Brother for Caoimhe

BabyAnon · 26/09/2023 21:51

DD’s name is Caoimhe and I still love it, but I just haven’t fallen in love with any boys names.

I am pregnant with a little boy who is due in 5 weeks and I have no clue what to call him!

No boy’s names really stand out to me.

DH would prefer an Irish name, I don’t really have a preference, as I just seem to be struggling to find anything that I like!

All suggestions are welcome.

Names that were on our list for 2 x DS included:
Oran
Cillian
Aiden
Joseph
Darragh
Liam

But I’m guessing you will have been through the more common Irish names with your DH so you have likely decided against the above. Do you have any feel for what you might like OP?

Patrick, Eoin

BabyAnon · 26/09/2023 22:17

I thought I liked Cormac, until my sister thought I was saying Korma, so it has now put me off …

I also like Sé, but feel like it’s too short compared to Caoimhe.

Said out loud Caoimhe and Sé sound nice, but written down I feel like they look wrong.

I like Seth and Brody (ie?), but DH isn’t keen.

Also if she were a boy, she’d have been Aodhan, but I’ve gone off that now too with the amount of Kaiden, Jayden, Hayden etc names I’ve been hearing lately.

I love the name Eoin. Also, looking at the names from a previous poster - Patrick, Declan and Callum.

cherryassam · 26/09/2023 22:23

I just came across Séimí as a name and really like it

Peadar
Aengus
Seamus
Cathal
Cartha

(going through DH’s family!)

BabyAnon · 26/09/2023 22:24

I feel like Séimí could solve my Sé being too short dilemma.

I really like Eoin or Seamus.

Summerbubbles · 26/09/2023 22:26

Rohan

Alstroemeria123 · 26/09/2023 22:26

Seamus was my first thought as well. Although I like Séimi as well.

cherryassam · 26/09/2023 22:30

I think Séimí is great - I like the fact it’s clearly Irish so goes with Caoimhe in that way but the pronunciation is fairly straightforward to ‘guess’ for non Irish speakers

Starseeking · 26/09/2023 22:33

I'm not Irish, and wondering how Séimí is pronounced phonetically. Is it like Shay-Me? Or more like See-Me?

Please accept my apologies for butchering if that's the case, I have no idea and am just curious.

Marblessolveeverything · 26/09/2023 22:34

Just so you are aware Sè means "him" in Irish so a little strange for Irish speakers.

cherryassam · 26/09/2023 22:36

My understanding is that it’s Shay-mee
