Well we named our daughter Giuliana, but now I’m having name regret and don’t know how to shake it. Did I make a huge mistake?
is it hard to pronounce when first looking at it? Does it look weird? Maybe I should change it?

what do you think of this name?

But Guiliana is NOT the italian way, Giuliana is.
Guiliana would be pronounced Gweeliana

Oh, stop being a smart-arse. I made a mistake in spelling, as you did, as you had to made an edit!

I have only ever seen this spelling, and I don't think I'd need someone to spell it. Send a text to your mum saying you're upset that she's making it so obvious she doesn't like the name. I wouldn't do it in person as she might need to process before she replies otherwise she might make you feel worse !

@Westfacing , I didn't make a spelling mistake, I made a couple of typos. Smartarse? A bit perhaps, but only to point out what I'd already posted upthread that people would transpose the vowels or omit one.

I know a Giulia, and I was amazed when she said that people get it wrong a lot.

i have had lots of family members misspelling it Guiliana versus Giuliana.

I think it is a beautiful name. Much prefer the Italian spelling and can't see why anyone would mispronounce it. My friend's DH is Italian and their daughters have Italian spelling of names. What are your other DC names? If you like the name then keep it. I don't remember how long you get to register it. My parents thought my DC names were unusual but have accepted names as given by us the parents.

@Motherofjessie , not everybody reads fluently, or pays attention, or knows that a g before and e or i makes a j sound. You'd be surprised at what people get wrong (like getting Louis and Louise mixed up or writing Harrison as Harisson)

Busted2006 · 24/09/2023 21:03

OP, if you are unhappy change it
