Baby Girl Name Inspiration

Struggling a lot to find a name for our baby girl.

I don't like anything too frilly, I much prefer strong sounding names, one or two syllables I think and nothing too popular, I would rather outside of top 100 or at least 40-50 or above. We also probably won't have middle names.

Names we like but can't quite agree on include
Erin: I love this but partner isn't sure
Luna: worried about popularity and cat/dog issue although I don't know any babies or pets called Luna
Raine: used to be the front runner, now not too sure, is it too negative? Also, only boys name we had was Rafe and we feel using Raine would completely rule out ever being able to use Rafe in the future as too similar?
Callie: more my partners favourite, I have concerns it's too similar to surname and begins with C and for me is too frilly.
Sadie: although it ends in ie I think it still sounds strong but the name is in the family so not really useable.

Any suggestions would be amazing, or thoughts on the names above.

I know it’s subjective but I wouldn’t say any of those names were strong. To me following names are what I’d call strong.
Catherine. Rosa. Anna. Lucy. Elizabeth. Rebecca. Harriet. Jessica. Olivia. Alexandra. Isabelle. Cynthia. Bridget. Charlotte. Abigail. Sarah. Eleanor.

maeve/maeva

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 10/09/2023 22:25

Love Callie. Erin is ok but not keen on the others

GoodVibesHere · 10/09/2023 22:31

I do think of Luna as being a pet's name. I prefer Lara, or perhaps Eliana with the nickname Lana.

Here are some other ideas:

Hallie (to avoid starting with 'C')
Saffron (Saffie/Saffy)
Lydia
Erika
Maya
Freya
Isla

Erin: - has been in the top 30 fairly recently. Sounds a bit harsh
Luna: - not keen
Raine: just sounds like rain otherwise ok
Callie: a bit twee
Sadie: fine

Thinking of what you've suggested,
Robyn, Lana, Rita, Connie, Saskia

DuchessOfSausage · 11/09/2023 00:17

Sadie: although it ends in ie I think it still sounds strong but the name is in the family so not really useable.
It's not the -ie ending that weakens a name, it's the combinations of vowels and consonants.
Recently popular names have had lots of vowelly names with L and V as the main consonants. K/C, S, T etc sound stronger
Try each first name with the surname.
Middle names are not used that much and I'd pick one with meaning not a filler one.
Something like Sadie Rosalind Curname seems stronger than Sadie Rose Curname

You might like ..
Sally - more business like than Sadie and means the same.

Raine is nice. Rafe or Rafael are very handsome so I would not use Raine if you think it is too similar.

WetBandits · 11/09/2023 01:57

Erin is lovely. Raine isn’t nice.

I know multiple dogs called Luna, Callie and Sadie. All okay names, but very doggy.

Luna is awful (loony) and Raine is either like weather or a really chavvy sound. The others are OK and Erin is really nice.

octoberfarm · 11/09/2023 03:47

How about Ada?

Also Saffron, Ayla or Wren?

Wale90 · 11/09/2023 03:50

Zoe or Stella were on my list along with Sadie and Erin

CharlieBoo · 11/09/2023 05:55

The only string name you’ve listed there I would say is Erin. The rest are still quite ‘frilly’.
