Which middle name for Rosa

Busted2006 · 10/08/2023 20:55

First name is 100% set so not asking for opinions on it.

We are just stuck with the middle name.

Eliza - not sure if the double "z" sound is too much but we love the meaning
Emilia (too spanish when paired with Rosa)- the meaning isn't great but I like how it sounds

Last name is quite common, long English surname so anything goes with it really.

Rosa Emily or Rosa Elizabeth?
I know you posted that you didn't want opinions on Rosa, but I like it.
List of Rosa species - Wikipedia
Pick a middle name you like and check the initials don't make a word (REK, REM or something)

I meant I didn't want any negative opinions.

Glad to hear that so many like it/love it though.

Yes, I will keep initials in mind. Good point

Rosa Elizabeth
Rosa Elsbeth
Rosa Elise

Rosa Emily
Rosa Emmeline

They are all variations of the names you like but go a bit better I think

I like Elise

Emilia if it’s a choice between those two. Rosa Eliza sounds odd, like the start of a nursery rhyme Grin.

I’d personally go for a name that didn’t end in ‘a’ with Rosa, though (which is a beautiful name, even though you didn’t ask Wink).

Positive opinions are welcome 😆

I think I'd choose something with consonant sounds at both ends to go with Rosa, like Miriam, Nerys, Catherine, Juliet, Bronwyn etc, but it does depend on the surname.

Lovely name.

I absolutely love the name Rosa, I just know that we'll be so happy we choose it. We don't like any other name anywhere near as much

Most of the people won't be able to pronounce it. British people find it hard to pronounce Spanish "R"
Rosa Marie
Rosa Faye
Rosa Chloe
Rosa Mae
Rosa Lia

Caspianberg · 11/08/2023 05:58

I think Eliza works fine.

Otherwise if avoiding a endings:
Rosa Estelle
Rosa Emmeline
Rosa Emelie

Busted2006 · 11/08/2023 06:06

We know an adult Rosa and she has never had any problems.

Of course it won't sound the exact same as when native Spanish speakers say the name but neither do Isabella, Sofia etc so I'm sure she'll get by just fine.

We have no problems with pronunciation with our Rosa, we live in Scotland where Rs are more pronounced but my husband and his family have English accents and it also sounds nice.
I have Spanish friends and I do love hearing them say it but it almost sounds like a different name!

rainbowstardrops · 11/08/2023 07:12

I thought of Rosa Jane before I read your choices. Classic name and you don't hear many these days!

DustyLee123 · 11/08/2023 07:13

Rosa May

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 11/08/2023 08:44

I don’t think either work. When I say them they sound like ‘Rosa reliza’ or ‘Rosa remilie’. A name not beginning with a vowel would be better. Rosa Beatrix, Rosa Genevieve, etc

KirstenBlest · 11/08/2023 12:42

Not Bronwyn - it's hideous. Bronwen is fine, if a bit dated.

Not May. It's a filler middle name and very overdone.

Rosa Eliza Robinson will be Rose-uh-Relizer Robinson.
Rosa Eddington will get Rose Reddington, which is how some will hear it

KirstenBlest · 11/08/2023 12:52

Where's the Spanish connection? Rosa is Latin.

watermeloncougar · 11/08/2023 12:55

Rosa Eloise

Theoldwoman · 11/08/2023 14:20

Neither of those two go imo.

Suggestions:

Rosa Caroline
Rosa Natalie
Rosa Abigail
Rosa Dominique
Rosa Beatrice
Rosa Isobel
Rosa Genevieve
Rosa Madeleine
Rosa Antoinette
Rosa Juliet
Rosa Harriet
Rosa Nicolette
Rosa Bethany

I like something with 3 or 4 syllables.

Thank you all, I think I might go back and have a rethink.

I do love Grace so even though "mumsnet" consider it a filler name that is a serious contender for us, plus it's my DH favourite name

My friends daughter is Rosa Honey.

Emz555 · 11/08/2023 21:54

My daughters middle name is Celine. Loved the meaning of heaven/heavenly. Rosa Celine sounds pretty.

Rosa is such a beautiful sounding, lovely name that I feel it’s a bit of a shame to give it such an overdone, generic filler middle name as Grace. I think it deserves something strong, rare and beautiful, just like Rosa.

I know what you mean, although I like Grace when I say them together 'Rosa Grace' Grace does sound a little uninspired next to Rosa

OP posts:
cptartapp · 12/08/2023 07:15

Neither work, it's the two vowels together making it a real mouthful.

Rosa Catherine is lovely
Rosa Kate
Rosa Faye
Rosa Meredith

KirstenBlest · 12/08/2023 10:10

Rosa Grace sounds like Rows of Grace
Rosa Verity sounds like Raw Severity

Rosa Sharon? Smile

Lisbeth50 · 12/08/2023 10:19

I like Rosa Eliza.

How about Rosa Elizabeth or Rosa Elise as alternatives?

Turquoisesea · 12/08/2023 10:26

You could have Rosa Lyn but I realise Rosalyn is a name in itself too so might get confusing but I think it flows for that reason
