What are the opinions on Brooks for a boy?

Other names on our shortlist are Miles and Beau.

Miles gets my vote.
Brooks, unusual but familier comes a close second..
Beau is fine.

Brooks with an S on end I would assume was a surname

Brook/Brooke I would expect to be a girl

I would go with Miles

Brooke is primarily used as a girls name so you will likely have a lot of assumptions that it is a girl.

of your choices I’d go with Miles. Bryce also popped in my head as a similar vein

I would go with Miles too.
Beau is ok, but it will date so badly. There were no Beaus before 2005. It will be Garry or Wayne one day.

Brooks sounds a bit confusing because I hear it as Brooke's (possessions).

What about Bruce? prefer that. Instead of Beau what about Blair?

Is there a reason for liking Brooks such as it being your maiden name or you're a huge fan of Garth?

No offence to any with the name but if not, it's just a bit of a boring surname with a simple geographical meaning. Not nice enough to justify the repeated 'no, it's Brooks with an 's''. Not the end of the world but I can't really see the appeal in and of itself.

Beau will date quickly and Miles is a bit wet but the best of the three.

I just like the sound of Brooks I think. Feel like it’s a strong name but possibly a bit American. Not that that’s a bad thing, but surname names can sometimes come with negative connotations especially on here.

Miles has been a front runner throughout most of the pregnancy. Beau is my favourite for a little boy but not sure how it will feel when he grows up.

I know a Beau and he's over 50!

Brooks is too much like a surname or a Nick name.

Brook is ok.

I used to love Roman but that horrible little twat on the radio has sullied the name.

Brook is not too bad but I'd think it was a girl. Brooks is too out there
I like Miles. Beau is dreadful. Not keen on Jude or Roman but they're not awful.

Are you in Essex? 😁Brooks is a bit made up. I think I'd Hmm if a child turned up where I work with that name! I know a Jax, you may like that. I know a Beau, sib is Harley. I really like Miles though, it's somehow classic and modern.

Beau:meh to yes (from GWTW- his name was actually Beauregard; Beau was his short for name)

I would pick Miles out of the three. (Yes from the boy in Turn of The Screw; but it is best of)

Brooks make some think of the golfer Brooks Koepka. Personally I don't like it. Agree about surname sounding names as first names.

Miles would be my choice, my a long way.

Brooks makes me think of the Real Housewives of Orange County. One of the women was with a man called Brooks who seemed to be a liar and abusive POS.

Beau is soooooo common at the moment. I know several under 5.

Brooks reminds me of big 80s glasses for some reason. It seems dated. It has a harsh, clunky sound imo. I can't imagine looking at a little baby in a Moses basket and in my mind calling him Brooks, just as I can't imagine a baby girl named Sharon.

I like Miles, Jude, and Roman far more.

Jude and Roman are a yes from me.

I think babies should be named with at least one traditional name ; so if you like a name that is unusual/bogan , baby has a name that fits in anywhere.

Huge bugbear of mine is short names as names; in my mind Alfie's name is Alfred etc.

I would go with Miles Roman.

Brooks - is a no from me OP, sorry 🤷‍♀️ Too American for my taste...and it's a surname, which I dislike as a first name.

Miles is nice enough though and I love Jude.

Really don't like Roman though...so overused now! And Beau is a poodle name in my mind, so no 🤦‍♀️

It's a well known brand of bicycle saddle. It also sounds vaguely plural or possessive.

Roman is nice but do you have any Polish roots? It's everywhere now because of that heritage (my GD's name!).

Miles is the best of yours. Brooks is not great.
