Romy / Cora / Sienna

Baby no. 1 due shortly and I'm torn between 3 first names!

Middle name likely Emilia or Emmeline as a nod to my mother, but want to focus on first name initially so would love everyone's opinions disregarding middle name.

What's everyone's preference in order of Romy/Cora/Sienna?

Thank you!

How about Clara? Or is it too popular?

Cora is the only one which could be used with your second name choices. However I don't like the name as much as Sienna.

YukoandHiro · 06/06/2023 09:48

Romy or Cora for me. Both are lovely with Emilia

Oh thank you! It is a classy and unusual combo I think. Btw if your name is Rosa Skye like your username, that is utterly swoon worthy too!! Love it.

Thank you! I wish it was! It’s an amalgamation of two of my DD’s middle names

Sunnycakes · 06/06/2023 10:45

Nice list OP! I equally like Romy and Cora. I do know a Romy and her name does get mispronounced a lot

Cora Emmeline!

This is nicest I think

BertieBotts · 06/06/2023 11:38

I love Romy, it has a kind of hippy vibe to me - that's positive IMO but may not be to everyone.

Cora is also nice.

Sienna not my taste personally. Not awful or anything, just feel neutral about it.

Another vote for Cora.
I love it.

I like the others too- Romy always feels like it should be short for something to me , like Romilie

Sienna is beautiful but so popular

I like Romilie. Romy reminds me of the Lisa Kudrow film about a high school reunion.

spiderlight · 06/06/2023 11:45

Bucking the trend, I prefer Sienna, followed by Romy. Not keen on Cora. I'm not sure whether Sienna goes with your middle names, with the repetition of the 'en/em' sound, but it's so rare that you have to say the full name out loud.

DuchessOfSausage · 06/06/2023 12:09

Not keen on any of them.
Romy is a bit like Roamey, Cora sounds like (apple) Corer, and Sienna seems a bit 'of the moment'

PossiblyNotOne · 06/06/2023 12:32

Cora. I don’t like Romy.

Sienna is just over done.

Thanks! And good to know about Romy pronunciation. Seems like Cora wins on that front.

Definitely Cora, but then I have one running around at home, so I'm biased 😊 Cora Emmeline is really lovely.

Thank you for sharing! A fellow Cora! I think it will suit all stages of life. Just now to figure out the middle names.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, agreed that it's so infrequent the names are said aloud altogether.

I love Clara - it's so elegant - but was just looking for something a bit more off the beaten track.

  1. Cora (use with Emmeline - lovely name altogether)
  2. Sienna
  3. Romy
TheMurderousGoose · 06/06/2023 14:15

I suspect that Romy is on a big upward surge. Boris Johnson had a Romy not too long ago and and an influencer Jamie Genevieve has just had a Romy and a friend of mine had one 18 months ago. So it seems to be having a definite moment.

Thank you so so much everyone for your replies. It has been so helpful. I think I am getting set on Cora Emmeline.

I have another question - we are potentially adding a second middle name as a nod to my husband's late father.

The full name would be:

Cora Emmeline Dhara [surname beginning with G].

What are everyone's thoughts on that? I adore the meaning of Dhara and think it adds a nice non-traditional twist to the combination. My only concern is that it might make for a bit of a hodge-podge? Also is the name Dhara too similar to Cora (in the sense that it's 2 syllable and ends with A)?

Thanks for your further thoughts!

Sienna, Cory, Romy in this order

Romy sounds masculine to my ears

Maddy70 · 06/06/2023 18:15

I love Romy

Absolutely love Cora 💓 was almost our girls name! (We went with Thea) would definitely name girl Cora if we had a 2nd.
