Milo is the nicest, Rio at a push though not to my taste. Harlo/Harlow is a joke name!

70sTomboy · 02/06/2023 12:47

Milo- dogs name
Rio- bird name
Harlo- incomplete town name

Miles
Rory
Harvey

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 02/06/2023 12:53

Milo. I can never think of Harlo(w) without thinking of the quote 'the 'T' is silent, as in Harlow', and Rio will always get them asked 'were you conceived there?' (I've got two girls with 'geographical' names).

RuthW · 02/06/2023 18:15

Harlow is a girl's name. Arlo is a boy's name.

Rio = Duran Duran

Milo - lovely (even though it was. Tweenie name it's now usable)

BCBird · 02/06/2023 18:22

None.

Dacadactyl · 02/06/2023 18:23

All 3 are absolutely awful.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/06/2023 19:08

Is Milo pronounced My-lo or Meelo ?

ThePoshUns · 02/06/2023 19:12

Do you mean Arlo or Harlow?

RoseAndRose · 02/06/2023 19:14

Milo or Rio

Not Harlo

Especially with that ending it just makes me think of "When asked by Jean Harlow whether her name was pronounced "Margo" or "Margott", she replied "The 'T' is silent as in Harlow"

WuTangGran · 02/06/2023 19:55

How about Bimbo?

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 02/06/2023 20:04

Harlo??
Go for Balonz.

intheatticwiththematches · 02/06/2023 20:06

or the Catalan Miro - there cannot be many pets with this unusual name
outside Spain ? many Italian names end in ‘o’ btw

YourWinter · 02/06/2023 20:13

Milo

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 02/06/2023 20:16

All sound like names for dogs to me sorry.

DistressedDamson · 02/06/2023 20:19

“The T is silent, as in Harlo”

CurlewKate · 02/06/2023 20:20

Milo is actually a name for a human, so Milo.

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 02/06/2023 20:24

They're all terrible!

Secnarf · 02/06/2023 20:27

Harlow is a town on the border of London and Essex. Old Harlow is nice. The new town is less so.

It feels therefore a bit like calling your child Basildon, so I wouldn’t use it.

If you like that specific sound, then Arlo.

Other similar names - Nico, Otto, Leo, Theo.

Rio has a modern feel, Milo more traditional. I think Nico fits both vibes.

Parkermumma07 · 02/06/2023 20:29

My son is called Milo, I love his name, He plays a lot of sport and I have heard a few other Milos on opposition teams so I think it’s growing in popularity but not so much that it’s going to be over used.
there are a lot of dogs called Milo however Milo ( the boy) quite likes this.

I always think it’s really horrible when people on here comment saying they hate names, logic states someone on this site will have a child by that name.

the other names are nice as well by the way :)

MenoRageisReal · 02/06/2023 20:37

I thought I was on the doghouse topic for a minute there.

Milo, ok but I do know several dogs named this. It feels like a very "early 2000s" name to me as I only know boys aged 16-22 with it.

Rio. Is the name of the toddler of the 2 gay Dads who keep relentlessly popping up on my Fb reels posting about their amazing dahling lifestyle and are so unbelievably irritating I couldn't ever have a kid with the same name.
Am also of the Duran generation but that probably ain't a big deal as an association now.

Harlo is an appalling mash of a made up name, just no.

Both my DC have dogs names , it hasn't hindered them IRL

I'm sure that Fido and Rover manage to get souvenirs with their names on them, @70isaLimitNotaTarget .

He uses the alias Rex now so he's cool with it Wink

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/06/2023 21:00

Rex is nice. @70isaLimitNotaTarget . I have known a dog called Rex.
DCat has a human name, but it is used on fewer than 10 babies per year these days

alwaysmovingforwards · 02/06/2023 21:19

None of them I'm afraid x
