How popular is Piper?

I love the girls name Piper, and I’m considering calling DD this. Is it an unusual name? Because I haven’t met any. Is Piper a nice name? Do you know any Pipers, and if so, how many, how old are they and where abouts are you in the country? I live in a suburban area in London, and I can’t remember hearing the name so hopefully it will be nice and unusual. Opinions are welcome ❤️

I have a toddler named Piper, we’re in S E London. I absolutely adore the name and have had so many compliments on it. I haven’t met any others. I got the name from Charmed, which I watched when younger

Piper was a name of one of the Charmed Ones.

People who pronounce Piper as Pie-per CAN read, that's how it's pronounced. If they want it pronounced as Pipper it's not deranged to suggest they change the spelling, because nobody is going to know that's how they want Piper pronounced

I can only think of Piper from the prison series Orange is the new black. But I know it's popularity has been soaring over recent years, probably because of the programme.

Love Piper and I was a massive charmed fan!

Reminds me of names like Harper and Scout. Make of that what you will.

I know of one who will be around 10 now. I’d put the name in the same sort of category as Harper as although it’s feminine it has an almost unisex feel - not flowery or pretty but a bit ‘cool’.

I have read the whole thread. You were referring to your friends as "they", a PP asked do they really pronounce it to rhyme with zipper, and you replied yes. YOU misunderstood who the PP was referring to - they were just following on with the pronouns you used.

I don't know any Pipers but I really like it! I think it would be a really lovely choice.

I know 2. One is a close friends baby and one a friend of a friends baby. Is upcoming but not too popular. Personally I’m not keen on it as sounds very American.

Same in Dutch. I’m not a fan of the name for this reason but also sounds very American to me.

I love the name Piper, but as a gay woman it seems too stereotypical to use it (main character of OITNB is called Piper)

My 6 month old DD is Piper. I absolutely love her name and most people we’ve told have said how much they like it. Apart from my mother 🙄 We call her Pipes, Pipey or Pip!
