Elodie, Elle, Arielle…?

We love all of these.
Which is your favourite and why?
Popularity not really an issue for us as none are particularly popular where we live.
We would pronounce Arielle ‘Ari-Elle’

TIA

Arielle

Arielle

WhatFreshHeckle · 03/04/2023 08:05

I like Elle best

The specific names might not be popular, but names with Elle in it are everywhere. It doesn't mean you shouldn't use them but just if you were worried about popularity and thought they'd sound fairly unusual where you are, they may just get lumped in with all the other Elle names.

But if popularity altogether doesn't matter that's different.

Triselly · 03/04/2023 08:25

Elodie is beautiful - unusual but not weird.

Alarmclockfloor · 03/04/2023 08:41

Elodie, I just really like the sound of it. Not too keen on the others personally but if you are set on using Elle day to day I'd just call her that.

tokyotea · 03/04/2023 08:44

Elodie

Meandfour · 03/04/2023 08:46

did you also start the Elle thread or are there 2 people considering the same names?
I still like Elle the most.

sunshineandmango · 03/04/2023 08:50

@Meandfour yes I started the names incorporating -Elle- thread for suggestions, got some lovely ideas but these are our favourites :)

Visually I like Arielle the best, but I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any!

Arielle - 9/10 A pretty name with strong meaning.
Elle - 8/10 A feminine classic but also a nice nick name.
Elodie - 8/10 Interesting and lovely with sweet meaning.

Ella - 9/10

avocadotofu · 03/04/2023 08:55

I really like Elodie too. It's sounds beautiful.

FayCarew · 03/04/2023 10:34

Arielle will be Ari or Ellie. There are lots of Harrys and Ellies
Elle is insubstantial
Elodie is meh

JAPB79 · 03/04/2023 16:16

Arielle is so pretty and you can still call her Elle for short if you like.

sunshineandmango · 03/04/2023 18:37

Thanks for the responses everyone, glad to see they all seem fairly well liked :)

Elodie, but then I like Eloise too.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 03/04/2023 19:54

I like Elodie.

Thisgirlcan21 · 04/04/2023 00:17

Elodie is one of my all time favs! I couldn’t use it as didn’t go with my surname. So pretty.

sunshineandmango · 04/04/2023 06:50

Lots of Elodie love. Thank you for the responses :)

Elodie I spose

I find them all a bit fussy

Ellmau · 04/04/2023 22:28

Arielle sounds the nicest.

purpleme12 · 04/04/2023 22:33

I actually like all of these.
You must have the same taste as me!

But I guess it's true what PP said about the shortening to Ellie. ☹️
I'm not a fan of that because there's so many Ellie.
My child has a name that starts with El - I never thought about the whole shortening to Ellie (perhaps that was naive). But her friends do.
But hey ho her actual name is still lovely

sunshineandmango · 05/04/2023 06:56

@purpleme12 the shortening to Elle or Ellie isn’t a problem for us as we like these nicknames, despite them being popular :) thank you for the insight though!

Love Elodie, I know one and it's so pretty. Makes me think of Melody as in a song, as opposed to the name.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 05/04/2023 07:35

Elodie sounds like L.O.D. and very overrated. Elle is as boring as can be. Arielle is OK.

sunshineandmango · 05/04/2023 07:53

@halfsiesonapotnoodle good point about the LOD - never actually thought about that 😂
