Help! Costa or Freddie?

Less than 3 weeks left and we don't have a name for baby boy 2. We like Frederick (Freddie), but also considering Constantine (Costa) due to family tradition on my side (Spanish heritage). DS is called Nico. What are your thoughts? Is Freddie too popular? Is Costa a valid option?

Costi is lovely though, I know it sounds Greek not Spanish but hey, it's a good name

ODFOx · 28/03/2023 14:23

Just use Costas instead of Costa. It'll be fine.

Federico?

I love Federico!

Cool story about your friend’s son bro. 👍

Thank you! What's a son bro, though?🤔

Mumma · 28/03/2023 14:53

What about Connie for short? A popular vintage name

Andanotherone01 · 28/03/2023 14:54

I’ve know and Costas but not Costa. If you’re in the UK he’ll be in for a lifetime of coffee jibes

Xarrie · 28/03/2023 15:19

I love Carlos. Gabriel is cute too.

FurElsie · 28/03/2023 15:50

As a pp said, Tomas is nice and no need for a nickname.

You didn’t read her other thread.

Stressed and has been asking all their friends for “their advice”

So clearly has anxiety about it and doesn’t need to be made to feel bad

barca123 · 28/03/2023 16:32

I like Freddie :)

Newnamenewname109870 · 28/03/2023 16:33

Constantine is a great name. You can call him Costa at home if you like and he’ll make his own nickname as he grows up. Freddie is ok but very very popular.

Uvayema · 28/03/2023 16:36

I have not started any other threads. Thanks for all your comments!

I love Mateo, I wanted to use it for DS but we have a very Yorkshire surname (despite being from Lancashire 😂).

LarkDescending · 28/03/2023 20:20

Mateo is fab. As is Rafael. Nico and Rafi ❤️

Viviennemary · 28/03/2023 20:39

Freddie is ok though not personally keen. I immediately thought costa coffee too but it is quite a usual name in Spain, wasnt that guy in Shirley Valentine called Costa or was it Costas. So I suppose it would be ok

VRheadmess · 28/03/2023 20:43

Elio?

SkyeBlue28 · 28/03/2023 20:46

If you choose Constantine I think another nickname or no nickname would be better because of the popular Costa coffee chain.
freddie is lovely too.

peaceinourtime · 29/03/2023 02:03

I knew a Constantine (adult) who only went by their full name.

Beaniesmumsie · 29/03/2023 02:58

Prefer Constantine but with Con as a nn. However if Stan is hard to pronounce in Spanish then surely they’ll struggle with Constantine too?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 29/03/2023 03:09

Definitely Constantine.

He'll be Con as an adult, a nice strong name.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 29/03/2023 03:10

There are SO many Mateos these days.

Yoyooo · 29/03/2023 03:13

I love Emilio but was vetoed by Spanish DH as was too 'old fashioned'

tatteddear · 29/03/2023 07:14

Freddie's are all over the place. Constantine is a much nicer less common name. Emilio is the best of your list.

Copasetic · 29/03/2023 07:17

No to costa and not keen on other shortenings. Like Freddie but like Frankie more.

Copasetic · 29/03/2023 07:20

Gabriel? Alejandro?
