Noah, Isaac or Kit?

Hi all,

Hubby and I are down to three front runners: Noah, Isaac and Kit. Noah is currently the no. 1 boys name in the UK, Isaac is pretty popular too though I don’t seem to meet that many of either (I am a teacher in a middle school), Kit not so much. We don’t like any long forms for Kit so baby would be just Kit. We would do middle names though do not have middle names established for Isaac or Kit (feel free to suggest), Noah would be Noah Edward or Noah Edwin. Our surname begins with a D and I like the idea of me - and probably just me, unless he wanted to distinguish himself from many Noahs in a class - calling him Ned sometimes.

We have a three year old DD called Dottie (Dorothy). She likes Noah and doesn’t mind Kit. We’d probably call Isaac Izzy and Zac, I have come across several lovely Zachs as a teacher.

I’m due next month. Thoughts?

Issac

Too many Noahs and too many Kits (which is too cutsy as a full name - like if you’d just called your daughter Dottie)

Issac isn’t a name, though.

They’re all great names.

Noah is the best, but that’s why it’s so popular. I think I’d go for Isaac - less common and not as ‘of the moment’ as Kit.

NannyR · 12/02/2023 16:41

I know a little Isaac, I think it's a fantastic name choice - timeless, suits all ages, a well known name but not that commonly used.
The Isaac I know doesn't get his name shortened, it does get misspelled a lot (Issaac is the most common).

This thread is a terrible advert for Isaac. It’s relatively short but two separate posters have already made the Issac error. A shame as it’s my favourite name of the three.

Wherethewildthymeblows · 12/02/2023 16:52

Kit, definitely.

Kit Zachary is very cool.

But if it were me I might be tempted by Kit and Marlow (e) as a middle name.

AnotherNameChangeYes · 12/02/2023 17:32

I love the name Noah. There is only one Noah in my DC’s year at school. I know more Isaacs. Not keen on Kit tbh.

Euchariahere · 12/02/2023 17:32

Don't like any but if I had to pick at a push issac

Heavydirtysou1 · 12/02/2023 17:34

Isaac is the nicest imo
Not a fan of Kit
Noah is a bit meh

TakeNoTweetsGiveNoQuacks · 12/02/2023 17:37

I like Isaac the best, but am not keen on Zack as a shortening. I also don't like Ike. I'd just call him Isaac and I don't think it needs a shortening.

Noah is ok, but it was extremely popular where I live a while ago, which I do find off-putting.

I find Kit too cutesy on its own as a pp said.

Joolsin · 12/02/2023 17:46

I love the name Kit.

Prefer Zac/Zak/Zach/Zack to Isaac, but there is the "which spelling" issue!!

Really dislike Noah, it's dull and boring, and too common.

TulipsLilacs · 12/02/2023 17:49

I love Noah

asblindasabat · 12/02/2023 17:51

For me it would be:

  1. Noah
  2. Isacc
  3. Kit
Kitsmummy · 12/02/2023 17:52

I have a 19 year old Kit and still love the name (it's just Kit, no long name).

And I think it's lovely with Dottie too.

DuchessOfSausage · 12/02/2023 18:14

63 post in and we have 3 Issacs and one Isacc!

everythingsapickle · 12/02/2023 21:56

I love Isaac. I’m not sure it would need to be shortened as it’s a short name, but also like Zachary if you wanted him to be called Zachary.

Like Noah. Very popular, I know several little Noahs.

Really dislike Kit, personally. It seems to be very “of the moment” compared with your other choices, especially as a stand alone name.

PurpleButterflyWings · 12/02/2023 22:02

They're all cute, but KIT is a bit of nickname/short for Christopher.

I like Noah best.

63 post in and we have 3 Issacs and one Isacc!

They both look daft/misspelt

kirtsyjl · 12/02/2023 22:03

I have a 23-year-old Noah and an 18-year-old Isaac

Still love both of their names:))

SquashesPumpkinsAutumnBliss · 12/02/2023 22:04

I like all 3 choices.

Noah Edward/Edwin sounds great, and I like the Ned option there too.

Isaac Benjamin
Isaac James

Kit Andrew
Kit George

finallychangedmyusername · 12/02/2023 22:28

I have an Isaac, it's a great name. 😁

Issac (yuk, it even hurts to type that!) is the most common spelling error my DS has had, but we've also had Izakk once (?!?!).

I also love Noah and Kit (but only as a nickname for Christopher). Isaac is fab though. 😊 Noah Edward Dsurname, nicknamed Ned is fun too.
