I am 6 months pregnant with my first dd and I really like the name Stacey. My dh likes it too but not quite as much as me. Everyone I've mentioned the name to really don't seem to like it. A few have said it's dated and others haven't really been able to give a reason why they just don't like it. After googling I saw it's hardly used anymore and I thought it was a shame. I thought with women like Stacey Dooley and Stacey Solomon being on tv it may have had a revival but it doesn't look like it has. I know there was the Stacy's mom song but that's old now so I didn't think that would put people off. I was just wondering what other people thought and if they think it's a good name to use or if not if are there any similar names that may be good to use

It does seem a bit dated but i might be biased a the only Stacey I ever met was a nasty cow.

Ripe for a revival, along with Lauren, Nicole/a etc.
Will probably be very cool in 10-20y and your DD can be ahead of the curve.

Awful.

I hate it. It’s like Sharon or Tracy to me. Just a naff name from the 70s.

DorisParchment · 11/02/2023 21:06

Horrible. Every Stacey I’ve met has been as thick as pig shit. I’m sure there are some lovely ones out there, but it conjures up a picture for me of a fat woman with lank, stringy hair, who breathes through her mouth with her tongue sticking out a bit.

The only Stacy I've met was born in 1960. I also remember Stacy Dorning an actress. Black Beauty I think. I associate with a very beautiful, dark haired woman. It doesn't have the Tracey/Sharon vibe at all.for me but I think Tracey is a pretty name made famous by Breakfast at Tiffanys I think.

My son has always told me that if he had a baby sister, he'd want to name her Stacey.

Then i always start singing 'That's not my name!'
🎶 They call me Stacey! 🎶

Holly was Audrey Hepburn's character's name in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Tracy was the name of Grace Kelly's socialite character in High Society.

Ah. It was released the year I had my daughter.
